Based on the 2020 vintage and disgorged in November 2023 with a dosage of 2.9 grams per liter, Leclerc Briant's NV Rosé Extra-Brut offers up aromas of red berries, lemon oil, herbs and peony mingled with lovely smoky notes. Moderately weighted, tense and linear, it's vinous and lively, with bright acids and a mouthwatering, saline, lemon oil–inflected finish. It was crafted from Chardonnay from Mardeuil, Trépaille, Billy le Grand and Bisseuil, with the addition of 7% red wine.

This sleek, mineral-driven rosé Champagne wraps chiseled acidity in a comforting cloak of its refined mousse. An underpinning of chalk, oyster shell and saline is layered with flavors of nectarine, clementine, Marcona almond and zesty grated ginger. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Disgorged January 2025. Drink now through 2030. 300 cases made, 150 cases imported.

Medium salmon-pink in colour with fine copper reflections. Inviting red forest berry fruit and ripe heart cherries on the nose, with a floral touch and candied lime zest making for an attractive bouquet. Textured and elegant on the palate, with a delicate fruit sweetness wrapped in a complex body and fine acid structure. Mineral, versatile and persistent. (Disgorged 06/23, PM).

A bright pink hue, the NV Champagne Extra Brut Rosé is Extra Brut with 3.4 grams per liter dosage and was disgorged in June 2024. A bright pink, it’s fresh and fruity on the nose, with delicate aromas of pure strawberries, fresh flowers, and seashells that are pretty all the way through. Medium-framed and dry, it’s crispy and fresh on the palate, with a clean feel throughout. Lovely to drink it now or over the coming 10 years, this very refreshing and clean style delivers a lot of brightness and pleasure.

This bottling is young with bright citrus and red fruits matching the acidity well. The Champagne is dry, which creates the conditions for further aging. Drink from 2024.

    Description

The purity and aromatic richness of an Extra Brut Rosé Champagne

    The estate

Located in the heart of the village of Epernay, the Champagne Leclerc Briant House boasts a history whose origins date back to the 19th century.

Following the passing of Pascal Leclerc, the fifth generation to head the family house, the estate was acquired in 2012 by Mark Nunnelly and Denise Dupré. This passionate couple from the United States has the ambition to make this house a flagship among the great producers in Champagne.

    The vineyard

After this acquisition, significant vineyard restructuring was undertaken under the supervision of Frédéric Zeimett, a native of Champagne who trained at estates such as Chapoutier and Pommery.

The Champagne Leclerc Briant House now oversees a terroir of 14 hectares composed of Grands Crus (Mailly, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger) and Premiers Crus (Hautvillers, Cumières, Bisseuil, Trépail, Rilly la Montagne, Villers-Allerand). Six hectares are planted with pinot noir and pinot meunier, while eight hectares are dedicated to chardonnay.

The house is recognized as a pioneer in Champagne, having adopted an environmentally friendly philosophy as early as the 1950s. The entire vineyard is now certified organic and biodynamic.

    The wine

This Extra Brut Rosé from Leclerc Briant is crafted from the 2018 harvest. Disgorged from August 2021, its dosage is 3.5 g/liter.

    Blend

    Chardonnay (93%)
Pinot noir (7%) vinified as a red wine
