Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of Louis Roederer Cristal Rosé 2015
Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a pale, luminous pink hue, reminiscent of rose petals or a very light salmon, adorned with subtle coppery highlights. The effervescence stands out for its extremely fine bubbles.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet proves complex, opening on red fruit aromas such as concentrated raspberry, combined with floral notes of rose petals and blood orange. The whole is rounded out by indulgent touches of toasted hazelnuts and macaron.
Palate
The attack offers a silky, caressing texture, supported by a creamy effervescence. This wine expresses a powdery elegance and a delicate freshness, leading to a finish that is at once vibrant, taut and saline.
Food and wine pairings
This great wine pairs wonderfully with refined dishes such as shellfish like lobster or crab, raw or lightly smoked fish, as well as white and pink meats. It also accompanies game birds, delicate Asian cuisine, mature cheeses and lightly sweetened red fruit desserts very well.
Serving and cellaring
Cristal Rosé 2015 has exceptional cellaring potential. It can be kept in the cellar and enjoyed approximately ten to twenty-five years after the harvest.
A rosé champagne of great finesse from Louis Roederer
The estate
Founded in 1776 in Reims, the family-owned and independent Louis Roederer House is a true benchmark in Champagne. Now led by Frédéric Rouzaud, this prestigious brand stands out for its constant dialogue with nature and its ongoing pursuit of excellence. The estate relies on an exceptional 250-hectare vineyard, more than half of which is certified organic. Thanks to complete mastery of every stage of production since 1841, the property crafts iconic cuvées renowned worldwide for their purity and precision.
The vineyard
The grapes come exclusively from plots located in the greatest terroirs of Champagne. The vines flourish on the chalky soils of the Côte des Blancs, notably in Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, as well as on the lands of Aÿ in the Vallée de la Marne. These exceptional terroirs, cultivated with profound respect for the land, give the berries a unique concentration and tension.
The vintage
The 2015 year is marked by a contrasting climate, beginning with a mild and humid winter, followed by a particularly hot and dry summer, punctuated by a few episodes of extreme heat. Fortunately, much-needed rains at the end of August fostered ideal ripening, yielding perfectly ripe, juicy and highly concentrated grapes at harvest.
Winemaking and aging
The crafting of Cristal Rosé 2015 is based on the singular technique of gentle infusion, a true signature of the house. The Pinot Noir berries macerate cold and a portion of the Chardonnay juices is added for a harmonious co-fermentation, without mechanical extraction. About 15% of the wines are vinified in oak foudres. In order to preserve a vibrant freshness, malolactic fermentation is not carried out. The wine then benefits from a long aging in the cellar on its lees for around six years.
Grape varieties
