    Description

A vintage champagne full of finesse and elegance

    The Champagne House

The House Champagne Moët & Chandon was founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, a visionary wine merchant who quickly made it a benchmark at Europe’s royal courts. A few years later, his grandson Jean-Rémy Moët further expanded the House’s international reputation.

Jean-Rémy Moët notably created the House’s emblematic cuvée, Moët Imperial, in honor of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, who visited the estate several times and who, together with his troops, is said to have invented the gesture of sabering bottles of Champagne Moët & Chandon to celebrate a victory.

Owned by the LVMH Group since 1987, the House produces unique cuvées from a rigorous selection of Champagne terroirs, recognized beyond its borders for their quality and captivating personality.

    The Champagne

Grand Vintage is produced in Champagne only in great years and is a free, personal interpretation of an exceptional year by Moët & Chandon’s Cellar Master.

    The vintage

After a particularly changeable winter, with alternating spells of rain, snow, cold, mild weather, sunshine, and gray skies, a warm spring followed, interrupted in May by a hailstorm. The summer was warm, before a “tropical” late summer set in at the beginning of September, bringing intense heat along with significant rainfall.

    Vinification and aging

This 1999 vintage champagne benefits from extended aging in the cellars.

    Blend

Pinot Noir (38%), Chardonnay (31%), and Meunier (31%).
