    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Belle Epoque "Blanc de Blancs" 2007 Perrier-Jouët

    Tasting

    Color
Pale gold, bright and sparkling, flecked with subtle green highlights.

    Nose
The bouquet reveals great delicacy through aromas of white flowers such as hawthorn and honeysuckle, mingled with notes of citrus and white peach. A chalky minerality comes through, evolving toward touches of honey, pear and candied lemon.

    Palate
The attack is bright and precise, carried by flavors of citrus and green apple. The texture is silky, offering beautiful depth with notes of lemon, pear and a hint of brioche. Crisp acidity brings perfect balance through to a long, chalky finish, punctuated by toasted nuances and tropical fruit.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This champagne pairs beautifully with delicate dishes that respect its subtlety. It goes wonderfully with scallop ceviche, sea bass in a salt crust, turbot or lobster. White meats served with light sauces, as well as soft-ripened cheeses like brie de Meaux, also make excellent pairings. For dessert, a white chocolate mousse or a lemon meringue tart will beautifully enhance its aromas.

    Service and Storage

The Belle Epoque "Blanc de Blancs" 2007 possesses a structure and complexity that will allow it to continue evolving and improving for many more years in the cellar.

The Floral Elegance and Precision of a Grand Cru from the Côte des Blancs

    The Estate

Founded in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose Adélaide Jouët, the Perrier-Jouët house is a true institution in Champagne. Established in Épernay, it quickly distinguished itself through its pioneering spirit and deep attachment to nature, exemplified by the famous anemone bottle created in 1902. The estate spans approximately 108 hectares of vines, located mainly on prestigious terroirs. Now part of the Pernod Ricard group under the direction of César Giron, the estate continues to uphold its artisanal expertise, guided by cellar master Séverine Frerson.

    The Vineyard

The house's vineyards extend across some of the most highly regarded terroirs in Champagne, with a strong concentration in the Côte des Blancs, notably on the grands crus of Cramant and Avize. The vines benefit from an ideal southeast exposure and grow on predominantly chalky soils, giving the grapes a distinctive minerality. The estate is actively committed to regenerative viticulture, promoting biodiversity and soil health.

    The Vintage

The year 2007 began with a mild winter followed by a particularly warm spring, leading to early budburst and flowering. The summer proved cool and wet, complicating the growing cycle with disease pressure and a hail episode. Fortunately, the return of warm, dry winds in August helped clean up the bunches and ensure optimal ripening, particularly for the region's white grape variety.

    Winemaking and Aging

Produced only in years offering optimal conditions, the Belle Epoque "Blanc de Blancs" 2007 is the result of a rigorous selection of the finest bunches. After careful sorting during the harvest to discard berries affected by the summer conditions, the wine underwent extended aging in the house's historic cellars, allowing it to develop its full aromatic complexity and the finesse of its effervescence.

    Grape Variety

    100% Chardonnay.
