Tart and lemony, with fascinating toast and spicy vanilla overtones. Straightforward and charming rather than complex. Drink now.

Füllig and indulgent, lovely fruity aromas, generous body, remarkable textural finesse.

    Decanter

Richly biscuity on the nose, with steamed rice, fresh pear and citrus blossom complexity. Creamy mousse dissolves into red apple peel, lemon and stone fruits, with a depth of honeyed biscuits. The Reserve NV from Pol Roger is a blend of base wines from at least three vintages. With 6 months of post-disgorgement ageing, the wine is ready to enjoy now.

Fresh Amalfi lemons, pear skins, apples, rhubarb and hints of anise on the nose. Excellent depth and flavor concentration here, with a medium body and creamy bubbles. Fruit and spice deliciously integrated. Drink now.

The Cuvée de Réserve (base 2021) is soft, open-knit and very easy to drink. Pear, green apple and floral top notes all grace the palate. This is a very tasty 2021-base NV Champagne, not to mention a fine introduction to the range. Disgorged: October 2025.

    Falstaff

Light golden yellow with silver reflections and a lively mousse. Fine fruit sweetness, subtle blossom honey, ripe notes of mango and pineapple and some baked goods mingle on the nose. The palate is juicy and elegant, with pleasant fruit sweetness in the texture and an integrated acid structure supporting the yellow fruited aftertaste. A versatile bottle.

The NV Champagne Brut Reserve release is equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier, with 25% reserve wine (3–4 years of wines), and it’s based on the 2020 harvest. A bright pale silver/yellow hue, it opens to fresh and fruity notes of graham cracker, ripe pear, fresh flowers, and wet stones. Medium-bodied and inviting, it’s a perfect aperitif, with a fresh and fruity note, a lively mousse, and a clean finish. Lovely, fruity, and refreshing, it can also be enjoyed at the end of a meal. Drink it over the next several years. Disgorged April 2024. 8 grams per liter dosage.

    La RVF

A slightly constrained palette, with limited complexity. The style comes across as indulgent, with a dosage that adds an off-kilter sweetness. The palate also feels made-up by its dosage, and this sensation masks the wine’s depth and level.

Pol Roger's nonvintage cuvée is perfectly in the house style with its great balance and poise between crisp dryness and a softer character. That makes for a very drinkable wine, rich, stylish and ready to drink now.

    Robert Parker Wine Advocate

    Stephan Reinhardt

The NV Brut Réserve, based on the 2012 vintage and disgorged after four years on the lees in July 2017, is very clear, precise and fresh on the nose, with bright fruit and delicate brioche notes. Blending equal parts of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay from 30 different crus and with 25% reserve wines, this is a clear, fresh, tight and finessed Champagne with an intense, powerful but also filigreed finish. This is an impressive, taut and persistent "White Foli" for many opportunities. Tasted June 2018.

    Description

Style and excellence united in a premium Brut Champagne

    The estate

Founded in 1849, Champagne Pol Roger has upheld its excellent savoir-faire and its unending pursuit of perfection for five generations. An essential benchmark far beyond France's borders, the Maison Pol Roger is an official supplier to the British Crown and to the finest Michelin-starred restaurants.

As one of the last houses still riddling its entire production of Champagne by hand, Pol Roger owes its distinctiveness to a style that authentically expresses the full potential of exceptional Champagne terroirs.

    The vineyard

The Champagne house of Pol Roger tends an exceptional 92-hectare vineyard, which includes some of the finest plots in the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.

    The wine

Emblematic of the Maison Pol Roger style, this Cuvée Brut Réserve Champagne brings together every quality that built the house's historic reputation. A blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, this iconic Brut Champagne was aged in the house's cellars for 4 years. It is drawn from 30 crus selected with meticulous care, with 25% reserve wine in the blend.

    Vinification and ageing

The grapes are gently pressed after harvest. A first settling takes place at the pressing centre, followed by a second cold settling (6°C) for 24 hours in the house's vat room. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a low temperature (18°C) in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Each grape variety and each cru is vinified separately before the final blend. Malolactic fermentation. After blending and bottling, the wine is aged for 4 years in the house's historic cellars. After disgorgement, it rests for a further 3 to 6 months at least before release. Its dosage is 8 g/L.

    Blend

Pinot Noir (1/3), Chardonnay (1/3) and Pinot Meunier (1/3).

Characteristics and tasting tips for Pol Roger Brut Réserve

    Tasting

    Colour
Its straw-yellow colour showcases the effervescence and finesse of an abundant mousse.

    Nose
Powerful and aromatic, the nose combines scents of fruit (pear, mango), honeysuckle and white jasmine with brioche and vanilla notes.

    Palate
A clean, lively attack leads into a refreshing, well-structured palate. The aromatic palette combines flavours of cooked fruit (quince jelly, apricot jam), beeswax and acacia honey with fruity (candied orange zest, mandarin) and spicy (cardamom, green anise) aromas.

    Serving

For optimal enjoyment, serve at 9°C.

    Food and wine pairing
