    Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for the "Corton Grand cru Le Rognet" 2022 from Maison Champy

    Tasting

    Color
The wine displays a deep ruby red hue, highlighted by garnet reflections.

    Nose
The bouquet is clear and concentrated, revealing aromas of small red fruits—especially sour cherry—alongside lightly smoky and spicy nuances reminiscent of black pepper.

    Palate
The attack on the palate is fresh, followed by a solid, opulent body. The present tannins are well integrated, and the finish is long-lasting.

    Food pairings
This Corton Grand cru "Le Rognet" 2022 pairs wonderfully with rich, concentrated dishes such as hasenpfeffer, coq au vin, or venison leg with Venetian sauce. It also pairs brilliantly with full-flavored cheeses such as Ami du Chambertin, Epoisses, or Livarot.

    Serving and cellaring
It is recommended to serve this Corton Grand cru "Le Rognet" 2022 at a temperature between 15 and 16°C. Drink until around 2032.

A Burgundian Grand Cru from the Montagne de Corton with a pronounced character and an opulent structure

    The estate
Founded in Beaune in 1720 by cooper Edme Champy, the House of Champy is the oldest merchant house in Burgundy. It farms around 21 hectares across the prestigious appellations of the Côte de Beaune and combines the activities of producer and Négociant-Éleveur. The House, part of the AdVini group since 2016 and technically led by Dimitri Bazas, continues three centuries of Burgundian innovation and tradition, with a commitment to organic farming initiated in 2007.

    The vineyard
The Corton Grand Cru "Le Rognet" comes from a 0.33-hectare plot on the Montagne de Corton. The vineyard lies at an altitude between 250 and 330 meters and benefits from an east-southeast exposure as well as an amphitheater-like layout. The vines grow on a clay-limestone terroir and are farmed under certified organic practices.

    The vintage
After a winter that was milder and drier than average, the first green shoots appeared at the beginning of April. Favorable weather conditions in the first half of September gave the 2022 vintage generosity and quality.

    Winemaking and aging
The harvest for the Corton Grand cru "Le Rognet" 2022 is carried out by hand. Vinification follows a traditional approach using the wine’s native yeasts. Aging takes place over 14 months in oak barrels, 30% of which are new.

    Grape variety
This Burgundian wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir.
