    The estate

Founded in 1720, Champy is Burgundy’s oldest wine merchant house. Now owned by the AdVini group since October 2025, the estate farms 21 hectares of vineyards exclusively located on the Côte de Beaune. Under the technical direction of Dimitri Bazas, who has been with the estate for over 20 years, Maison Champy has committed to an exemplary environmental approach, with 12 hectares certified organic or in conversion. In 2021, the estate received the prestigious “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” label, being the only Burgundy wine estate to benefit from this distinction.

    The vineyard

Pernand-Vergelesses lies in the northern part of the Côte de Beaune, three kilometers from Aloxe-Corton, nestled against the renowned Corton hill. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soils mixed with pebbly scree at the foot of the slope, while the brown or yellowish marls at higher elevations, between 250 and 350 meters, are particularly well suited to Chardonnay. This exposure and altitude give Pernand-Vergelesses white wines a distinctive freshness and pronounced minerality.

    The vintage

The 2014 vintage in Burgundy began with a mild, frost-free spring, followed by successful flowering in late May and early June. On June 28, hailstorms hit the Côte de Beaune, causing significant losses in certain areas. July and August were cool, but September turned the situation around with sunny, warm weather, allowing for optimal ripening. This vintage is characterized by remarkable acidity and excellent aging potential.

    Winemaking and aging

The Chardonnay grapes intended for the Pernand-Vergelesses Village 2014 were vinified according to the rigorous protocols developed by Dimitri Bazas. The winemaking follows the principles of organic and biodynamic farming implemented at the estate since the early 2000s.
