Heady and potent blackcurrant aromas on the nose with expressive floral elements, too. Really alive and inviting with beautiful texture. Smooth, with intensity of cool blue fruits, blueberries and chalky, creamy black cherries. Round and gentle, yet with plenty of flavour and textural interest in the softly fleshy tannins. Not super-concentrated but has power and complexity, really well delivered and refined. Vibrant, pulsing with energy, expertly weighted in the mouth, minty aspects, liquorice touches and wet stones. Lots going on here.

Blueberries, ripe blackberries, hot chocolate and rosemary on the nose. From organically grown grapes. Full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins. Solid and a little rustic. Merlot and cabernet franc. Better in 2025.

The 2020 Canon Pécresse was showing a bit of reduction on the nose that made it difficult to read. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannins, a fine backbone, quite solid with plenty of substance, though it does miss a bit of finesse on the finish.

Mint leaf, espresso, licorice, cocoa and dark cherries shine effortlessly on the nose. The wine is medium-bodied, round, soft and polished, with ample sweetness to the juicy, lush, ripe plums, with their peppery edge in the chocolate-tinged finish. Drink from 2023-2037.

Readers looking for a pure, mineral-laced Right Bank in the vintage will love the 2020 Château Canon Pecresse, which is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc from the upper limestone plateau that was raised in just one-third new French oak. It has a great nose of ripe raspberries, spring flowers, sappy herbs, and a salty, chalky mineral character that emerges more on the palate. Medium-bodied, focused, and straight, with ripe tannins, it's very much in the classic, balanced, yet impressive style of the vintage. It will keep for a solid decade.

70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, in organic conversion, 35 hl/ha. Deep purple with an opaque core and a delicate ruby rim. Densely interwoven bouquet with black Tasmanian mountain pepper and refined cassis spice, followed by dark noble wood and subtle graphite notes. On the full palate with a creamy texture, finely sandy extract, supportive verve, and a well-trained body. In the focused finish, wild cherry, juniper, and a rugged astringency. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Canon Pecresse skips out with youthfully exuberant notes of red and black cherries, juicy plums, and charcoal, followed by hints of cloves and fallen leaves. Beautiful deep red. Very aromatic nose with ripe, creamy, truffled fruit. Soft on the attack, supple mid-palate, the wine gains dimension on the finish. It ends long and sappy, with a chalky touch to the flavor. Lovely tannin. Blend: 85% merlot, 15% cabernet franc.
