    Vinum

Open, fragrant, floral notes, ripe red berries, chocolate; soft palate, creamy texture, very well balanced, with good length and a saline finish. Impressive quality.

    Decanter

Nicely scented nose, full of black fruits, floral notes and soft herbal touches with some dried flowers, dark chocolate and graphite. Clean and crunchy, really crisp and delicate. Light, not heavy at all, but really finely layered. Seamless and so bright and fresh. Juicy and supple with a mineral, wet-stone grip to the tannins that lingers on the finish. Clean, forward and focused with a confident intensity. Really very good, so fine, and you really want another sip.

The 2023 Canon Pécresse has quite a loamy nose, dark berry fruit mixed with brown spices, a little more austere than expected. The palate is medium-bodied with sharp tannins, fine acidity, though a little dryness on the finish. This seems to have suffered during its barrel maturation. Two bottles tasted.

Located on the limestone plateau and an enjoyable Cabernet Franc–dominant wine. Great freshness, inky and full of vibrant tannins that are a touch rustic but with energy, direction, blue fruits and a mouthwatering finish. This is a change of style, one to look out for. 35 hl/ha yield. Now owned by La Dauphine (buying from the director of Radio France).

Score: 90–92. Very pretty fresh fruit, bursting with brightness and roundness, carried by an intense core with a well-defined, tangy backbone. The texture is velvety, leading to a mouthwatering, slightly grainy finish.

The limestone freshness of Canon Fronsac is immediately apparent in the bouquet of Canon Pécresse! Alongside chalky notes, the bouquet reveals aromas of blackberries, mint and peonies. Driven by a refreshing structure, the wine offers velvety tannins that bring energy and staying power. A vibrant, precise, harmonious wine, ready for the future!

This is a dry wine, its fruit still buried under the firm tannins. But the wine has weight and layers of black currant fruits. It has a fine future. Drink from 2028.

Darker fruits, plums, chocolaty herbs, and damp earth all define the 2023 Château Canon Pécresse, a polished, elegant Canon Fronsac with a Pomerol-like style. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has a round, supple mouthfeel and terrific balance. I like it today yet see no reason it shouldn't keep for 10-15 years in cold cellars. Drink 2026-2041.

Deep, intense, purplish red. A lovely nose, highly aromatic, refined, pure and fruity. Delicate on the attack and flavorful on the mid-palate, the wine develops pleasantly, with medium body and length.
