    Vinum

The nose reveals lemon zest, resinous notes, apple, beeswax and a hint of curry, underpinned by chalky stone; full-bodied palate with generous fruit, opulent yet not heavy, a very fine acid structure, plenty of finesse and a long, spicy finish. An excellent sweet wine with great ageing potential.

    Decanter

Really fragrant and aromatic peach and pear notes on the nose and palate. Round, sweet, luscious and energetic, this has such a lovely presence in the mouth – ripe, forward, alive and sweet – orange juice, pineapple, mango and peaches. Lovely bitter tang on the finish too. Very assured.

One of my go-to Barsacs. In this vintage it shows intensely sweet pineapple, bitter almond, fennel, blood orange and tarte Tatin. There’s a firm grip here, but it’s one for lovers of opulence. Tasted twice, 25% new oak.

    Yves Beck

The bouquet of Coutet 2025 reveals itself with filigree finesse—subtle, almost shy, or rather restrained. Notes of orange peel, acacia blossom, mirabelle plum, raspberry and nectarine create an unlikely symbiosis, offering only a glimpse of an exceptional aromatic spectrum. Dense and slightly saline on the attack, the wine flows seamlessly, with verve and energy. It can rely on the precious support of an incisive structure that delivers tension and character with rare elegance. A wine of improbable subtlety, yet generous, fresh and persistent.

Golden color. An intense, fruity, pure nose with delicate creamy notes. Broad on the attack, rich through the mid-palate, with a silky texture, the wine caresses the palate and melts into hints of fresh butter and spice. Great, savory, irresistible persistence. Superb. Blend: 97% Sémillon, 2% Sauvignon Blanc, 1% Muscadelle. Alcohol: 13.5% - pH: 3.77. Residual sugar: 155 g/l.

The mineral elegance and freshness of a great Barsac wine crafted by Château Coutet

    The estate
Built on the foundations of a medieval fortress, the estate became a true wine-producing property upon its creation in 1643 by Charles Le Guérin. Located in the Bordeaux region, this 43-hectare vineyard stands as an essential reference of the Barsac appellation. Consecrated Premier Cru Classé in 1855, Château Coutet is today led by the Baly family, with Philippe and Dominique Baly at its helm. Certified organic since 2012, this property distinguishes itself with sweet wines of remarkable freshness, magnified by a unique terroir and ancestral expertise. Its name, derived from the Gascon word "couteau" (knife), perfectly illustrates this characteristic freshness.

    The vineyard
The vineyard extends over 43 hectares in the heart of the Barsac appellation. Benefiting from the proximity of the Ciron river, the vines enjoy a cool and humid microclimate, ideal for the development of noble rot. With an average age of 53 years, they are planted on clay-limestone soils that give the wines their characteristic minerality. Cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, the estate favors environmentally friendly methods, without any chemical treatment, and carries out harvests exclusively by hand through successive selective pickings.

    The vintage
After a winter with typical temperatures, budbreak took place optimally at the beginning of April. Heavy spring rainfall then promoted vine growth. From May to October, a period of drought set in, limiting berry size while concentrating their sugars. The summer proved hot, with many days exceeding 32°C, but without any heatwave episode. Cool nights maintained a fine balance. From mid-September onwards, morning mists allowed botrytis to develop. The cycle came to a close with harvests spread from mid-September to mid-October.

    Vinification and aging
After meticulous harvesting, Château Coutet 2025 benefits from careful aging. The wine rests for 18 months in oak barrels, 25% of which are new, in order to refine its structure and complexity. Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.

    Grape varieties
This wine comes from a blend composed of 97% Sémillon, 2% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Muscadelle.
