Elegant and refined, with some real power, too. This has nice integration of black pepper, charred apple wood and black tea notes that underscore red plum and cherry. A polished, balanced red, with good depth. Drink now through 2028. 400 cases made, 100 cases imported.

Less oaky than in the past, with greater purity and finesse; a caressing palate, energetic fruit, slightly firm tannins. It will age with style.

Still marked by a fine reduction and slightly vegetal notes, the fruit appears evanescent, with measured power and a delicate touch. A lovely granitic imprint punctuates the finish. Great aging potential.

The nose benefits from decanting. It is airy, aromatic, peppery, and delivers a subtle, delicate power. There are notes of wild pepper, bigarreau cherry, and, more lightly, blackberry, joined by hints of violet and peppery/spicy touches. The palate is fruity, offering freshness, juiciness, tension, refined minerality, and a certain depth. On the palate, this wine shows notes of juicy/fresh blackberry, juicy/fresh bigarreau cherry, and, more lightly, fresh/juicy raspberry, combined with hints of fresh blond tobacco, fine sappy/local undergrowth nuances, and discreet almond notes. Lovely freshness and minerality. Good length. A fine tension. The tannins are sapid and fresh.

    Description

A Beaujolais red wine that delights with balance and finesse

    The estate

A veritable monument to wine, Château du Moulin-à-Vent has been located in the prestigious appellation of the same name in northern Beaujolais since 1732. Today, Château du Moulin-à-Vent has a history spanning more than 300 years, during which time three families have succeeded one another. Although their histories differ, they have all shared the same certainty: that of the pre-eminence of Moulin-à-Vent. Under the aegis of the Parinet family since 2009, Château du Moulin-à-Vent is now undergoing a remarkable renaissance thanks to the dedication of two daring innovators: Édouard Parinet and Brice Laffond. With their enthusiasm, curiosity and passion, the two men are producing exceptional wines that faithfully reflect the expression of the great terroirs of the Beaujolais region.

    The vineyard

This wine comes from "Les Vérillats," an area of 4.4 hectares situated at an altitude of 300 metres in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation, with soil composed of gorrh, manganese and iron oxide. This cuvée is made from vines that are on average 65 years old.

    Winemaking and ageing

The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully placed in 30-litre bins before being meticulously sorted on two sorting tables. Once harvested, 25% of the grapes are destemmed to preserve their integrity and freshness. This is followed by cold pre-fermentation and extraction for 3 weeks. The wine is aged in stainless steel vats (75%) and French oak barrels (25%) for 18 months.
