    Vinum

Seductive red-berry aromatics; compact and juicy; at this stage the tannins are a touch austere and still a little prominent; good length, impeccably made.

    Decanter

A mixture of dark fruits and gorgeous ripe red cherries on the nose with a milk chocolate dusting. Smooth texture on the palate full of black fruits, darker and more serious in fruit profile than the nose suggests but with a clear mineral/wet stone element, such a cleanness and cooling freshness that comes across on the palate. Really elegant, refined and poised. Delicious juice on the first impact then settles with lots of nuance, grip and complexity coming through. Impressive and well balanced.

Flowers, cigar box, and cedar with red and black currants are what you initially notice. Medium-bodied, but with a bit more weight than in many previous vintages, the wine is fresh, elegant, soft, and vibrant, with a savory accent in the refined finish. The wine blends 72% Cabernet Sauvignon with 28% Merlot. Drink from 2026-2041.

    Falstaff

    Falstaff

Dark ruby, purple reflections, broad and bright rim. Ripe wild blackberry fruit, a hint of plums and figs, nuances of nougat, candied orange zest. Full-bodied, complex, sweet fruit, powerful, ripe tannins, elegant and persistent, mineral on the finish, some chocolate on the aftertaste, already well developed, a multi-faceted food wine with good ageing potential.

Dense inky and fresh, classic Pauillac style with pure dark fruit, cassis, and tobacco notes. Good volume with grainy tannin and long fresh finish. An estate that has certainly developed in terms of depth and complexity.

The 2019 Château Duhart-Milon is another highly successful wine of the vintage. Offering upfront currant and cassis notes, it is medium- to full-bodied, with complex cedar and spicy nuances, ripe tannins, and a round, layered, balanced mouthfeel. It is slightly less sunny and opulent than the 2018, yet still delivers plenty of beautiful, sun-kissed fruit.

A brilliant wine to seek out to showcase how Duhart is being skilfully worked to deepen its flavour profile and beef up its mid palate, and to soften up tannins that can be austere when young. Here you find a tenderness and a velvety quality to the structure, along with cool blue and black fruits. Still unmistakably Pauillac, majoring on cassis, pencil lead and cedar wood, all standing to attention and confident of giving you many years of service. Very good quality, delivering on its En Primeur promise.

    Bettane+Desseauve

Beautiful colour, an open, opulent and precise nose with notes of spice and violet, with a hint of almond; excellent body, perfect tannin extraction, certainly and by far the best value for money among the estates linked to Lafite. Wait around ten years or more.

    La RVF

This is one of the most seductive Duhart at this youthful stage. It reveals generous fruit and silky tannins. The palate is admirably harmonious. One can therefore say that the wine is today at the level we expect it to be.

    Le Figaro Vin

A restrained, confident nose, from which notes of dark purple fruits, sap and black pepper emerge. Silky and smooth on the palate, it then reveals a juicier, spicier side. A very elegant, refined wine, decidedly chic.

    Yves Beck

Such finesse and precision in this bouquet! It stands out for the freshness of the Cabernet Sauvignon and the bright fruit intensity that comes with it. On the palate, the wine shows several facets. It opens with a juicy attack, while also offering breadth, with tannins that are certainly tight yet perfectly integrated. A great success.

    Jean-Marc Quarin

    Jean-Marc Quarin

A deep, intense, beautiful colour. A very aromatic, refined nose, fruity, ripe and subtle. Caressing on the attack, mellow as it develops, with a smoothness of flavour enhanced by a velvety mouthfeel, the wine glides and caresses before ending on fine-grained tannins and a good length.

    Description

The ripe fruit in a Pauillac by Duhart-Milon

    The estate
Situated in the middle of Pauillac, Château Duhart-Milon is a perfect representation of this appellation. This 4th Classified Growth of Pauillac was founded in the 18th century under the leadership of the Lafite family, who covered Pauillac with vines at that time.

    The vineyard
To date, the Duhart Milon vineyard covers 76 hectares. It extends to the west of another well-known property in Pauillac: Château Lafite Rothschild. The soils are composed of fine gravel, aeolian sands on tertiary limestone subsoils.

    The vintage
The mild winter induced an early bud burst on March 27 followed by mid-flowering on June 4. The light rains in mid-September were very beneficial at the end of of the maturation cycle at Duhart-Milon. The climatic conditions of this vintage allowed the berries to reach perfect ripeness in time for the harvest, in mid-September. The harvest took place from September 19 to October 4, starting with the Merlot and then with the Cabernet.

    The blend
    Cabernet sauvignon (70%), merlot (30%)

    The tasting
The Château Duhart-Milon 2019 is a wine that shows great maturity while retaining a nice fresh fruit.
