    Description

A concentrated and generous Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé

    The estate
The terroir of Château Faugères dates back to the 19th century. In 1987, the couple Pierre-Bernard Guisez inherited it and, with the assistance of Michel Rolland, turned this vineyard into one of the gems of the appellation Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, instilling a quest for quality and their determination to showcase a unique terroir.

    The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Faugères covers 37 hectares in the appellation Saint-Émilion. The vineyard is managed using sustainable viticulture practices.

    The vintage

Wet at the start of the 2018 season, 2018 turned out to be an early vintage for Château Faugères thanks to an exceptional summer. During the harvest, concentrated grapes were brought into the cellar thanks to precise harvest management. In the end, the estate achieved a rather low yield of 25 hl/ha.

    Winemaking and aging

After a one-month maceration, the wine is then aged in oak barrels (50 % new, 50 % once-used) for 15 months.

    Blend

    85 % Merlot, 10 % Cabernet Franc, and 5 % Cabernet Sauvignon.

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Faugères 2018

    Tasting

The Château Faugères 2018 is dense, silky, and intense. It is a powerful wine that showcases the sunny character of 2018 with maturity, concentration, and richness. The estate even compares it to 2009 and 2005, two legendary Bordeaux vintages. This is one of the estate’s greatest achievements.
