It stays true to its full-bodied, fruity style: you sink into a cozy bed of cherries, supported by angular tannins. Only on the finish does the alcohol become noticeable.

The 2015 La Tour Figeac is medium to deep garnet-purple colored with fragrant notes of dried roses, dusty soil and fallen leaves over a core of baked cherries and plum preserves plus a hint of charcuterie. The full-bodied palate is concentrated and chewy with good expression, finishing just a little firm.

Offers a dense, fleshy feel, with fig and boysenberry compote notes rumbling along, inlaid with graphite and tar accents. Defined and energetic, with notes of anise and ganache adding range through the finish. Tilts toward power rather than finesse in the end. Best from 2022 through 2035. 4,200 cases made.

This historic estate borders two of the region’s titans in châteaux Figeac and Cheval Blanc. Sourced from vines more than 35 years old on average, growing on gravel and sand on a clay substratum, the 2015 (a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc) spent roughly a month in stainless steel tanks and wooden vats before ageing for 18 months in oak barrels, half of them new. Juicy, with a saline, toasty finish.

Gorgeous aromas of blueberries and spices with some white pepper and chocolate. Full-bodied, with round, integrated tannins and a flavorful finish. Juicy and intense. A salty thread. Drink now or hold.

Dark fruit with some elegant graphite notes. Bone dry and with that dark graphite character on the palate as well. Not as flattering as many 2015s but with lovely harmony in a dry, refined whole. (JH)

Here's a wine that keeps getting better and better as it ages in bottle. The truffle and floral notes get you going. But perhaps it's the silky, fresh, ripe, sweet plums and cherries that are the best part. Elegant and classy, this is quite the charmer.

Dark ruby, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim, ripe plums, dark berry fruit, pleasant herbal spice, candied orange zest. Juicy, sweet fruit, velvety texture, fine tannins, elegant and persistent, already seems very drinkable, chocolatey finish, definite ageing potential.

Made with guidance from Stéphane Derenoncourt and from a great terroir near the Saint-Emilion/Pomerol border, the 2015 Château La Tour Figeac is a classic effort that offers lots of ripe red and black fruits, tobacco, damp earth and truffle aromas and flavors. It's ripe, polished and balanced, with sweet tannin, integrated acidity, and a clean, classy feel, all of which make it a joy to drink already. Nevertheless, it should be at its best from 2020-2032. Tasted twice.

On the palate, velvety and smooth, with rounded yet not-to-be-underestimated tannins, and very fine bitter notes on the finish. It can still integrate further with maturation.

(17/20). 18: Deep garnet with dark ruby highlights in the center. The bouquet is already quite powerful, showing plenty of ripe fruit—raspberries, cherries, grenadine, and rosehip. Very straight on the attack. On the palate, juicy, with ripe tannins, rich tongue-coating extract indicating very good concentration, and focused length. Not a show-off, but on a very solid, reliable level. Certainly not to be underestimated. If it reaches initial maturity from 2020, a further 15 years of enjoyment are unquestionably guaranteed. The full-bodied palate is generously fruited and intense with firm, rounded tannins and lovely freshness, finishing spicy.

In bottle, the 2015 vintage delivers on all its promises: mellow and refined, the wine traces a lovely outline on the palate, with the indulgence of a juicy, cocoa-tinged black cherry that grazes jammy notes without tipping into over-ripeness.

The color is dark and the nose is relatively fresh. The wine is smooth, raspberry‑toned, charming, and rounded. A lovely, very approachable wine.

A meticulous wine in its touch and delicate on the nose, gliding across the palate; not very powerful, but charming and seamless. Best enjoyed young.

This estate, run on biodynamic principles, has made a rich wine with density and intense, pure black-currant fruits. It has a firm backbone of tannins along with perfumed minerality from the Cabernet Franc in the blend. Drink this wine from 2024.
