    Vinum

Marked reduction on the nose, pronounced flint, Burgundian, funky; on the palate, drive and crisp fruit, very good acid structure, plenty of verve, not an easy moment to taste this wine, it could gain further with maturation.

    Decanter

Medium yellow in colour. Smoky, noble reduction at first, sesame seeds, then ripe yellow fruits and spices on the nose. Juicy, vibrant, with exceptional precision and length. A standout.

84% Sauvignon Blanc, 16% Sémillon. Cask sample. Lively and aromatic with a herbal, citrus edge. Fresh and dry on the palate, the finish clean. Already accessible. (JL)

Pineapple, white peach, lemon curd, orange rind, roasted nuts, and green apples show in the perfume. The palate is equally loaded with its sweet, fresh, creamy, ripe fruits, finishing with juicy citrus and pineapples. The wine is produced from 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon. Drink from 2027–2033. 93-93 Pts

    Le Figaro Vin

A very beautiful nose, rich and noble, with nuances of flint, matchstick, and warm sand between the toes. The palate is rich and buttery, yet crystalline and radiant, with notes of Amalfi lemon and yellow nectarine, supported by a superbly fresh and elegant structure. The saline edge on the finish triggers intense salivation.

    Vertdevin

The nose is grilled, toasty, aromatic, and offers a certain complexity. It reveals notes of grilled tones, juicy yellow berries and, more subtly, quince, along with touches of kumquat, hints of ripe small fruits, sweet spices, as well as notes of hazelnut and smokiness. The palate is fresh, mineral, and offers a mineral backbone, some fat, tension, and energy. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/fleshy yellow apple, fleshy pear, and, more subtly, mirabelle, combined with touches of small white fruits, as well as a hint of quenette, smoke, nutmeg, grilled/toasty nuances, and a very discreet, almost iodized note. Good length. A fine tannic edge both in structure and aroma. A delicate, discreet hint of apricot on the finish.

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Château Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc 2024

    Tasting

    Color
This wine displays a brilliant color with luminous highlights, typical of great white wines from Pessac-Léognan.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals a slight Burgundian reduction that gradually opens on expressive notes of exotic fruits and citrus. A delicate floral touch of rose completes this complex, elegant nose.

    Palate
The attack is broad and dynamic, revealing remarkable aromatic intensity. The texture is both round and supple, with discreet oak that fully expresses the fruit. The finish, long and persistent, offers freshness that promises excellent aging potential.

The Liveliness and Structure of a White Wine from Pessac-Léognan

    The Estate
Acquired in 1987 by Philippe and Christine Gervoson, Château Larrivet Haut-Brion is a historic estate of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. This estate, whose history dates back several centuries and which experienced different denominations before adopting its definitive name in 1949, underwent a true renaissance under the direction of the Gervoson family, who remain its owners. The wines, produced on deep gravel terroir, are distinguished by their elegance and balance, faithful to the identity of this Bordelais flagship.

    The Vineyard
The vineyard dedicated to this white wine from Pessac-Léognan covers 7.90 hectares of sandy-gravel soils over a limestone subsoil. The vines, with an average age of 30 years, benefit from a rigorous parcel selection. The grapes are hand-harvested at perfect maturity and transported in small crates to preserve their integrity, before undergoing meticulous manual sorting.

    The Vintage
The 2024 vintage began with an exceptionally wet and mild winter, followed by a cool, humid spring with strong cryptogamic pressure from April 20. Flowering extended over three weeks, slowed by weather conditions. The summer was marked by a water deficit in July and August, with moderate temperatures and no major heatwave. Veraison began in early August at a typical pace. Harvesting took place from September 5 to 13 in cool, humid conditions.

    Winemaking and Aging
Manual harvest and rigorous sorting before a gentle pressing. After a light settling, fermentation takes place quickly at low temperature to preserve aromas. Aging is carried out 70% in new oak barrels (barriques and muids) and 30% in wooden vats, allowing the wine to develop its structure while retaining its characteristic freshness.

    Blend
84% Sauvignon Blanc and 16% Sémillon.
