    Decanter

Medium lemon-gold in hue. The nose is subtle and slow to unfurl, with restrained notes of dried apricot and orange peel emerging with aeration. On the palate, however, the wine struggles to find harmony. While there are hints of peach and pineapple, the oak influence is assertive, bringing a pronounced bitterness that dominates the finish. The Semillon character is evident, but without the lift of balancing acidity, the texture feels slightly heavy and the midpalate somewhat flat. 100 g/l residual sugar.

    Le Figaro Vin

Dried fruits perfume the first wafts, recalling apricot, fig, pineapple and pear. The palate is creamy and bright, with lovely freshness that elevates the substance. Subtle bitters tease the taste buds on the finish and make you want to come back for more.

    Vertdevin

The nose offers a certain concentration but seems closed. It expresses notes of candied citrus (candied bitter orange, grapefruit jam, candied lemon peel). Aeration reveals sweet, indulgent notes of vanilla, toasted hazelnut, lemon yogurt, sweet yellow peach, crushed apricot, as well as honey, apple blossom and acacia. The palate is more expressive, with an attack combining the tangy and sweet character of candied citrus (candied lemon peel, grapefruit jam and bitter orange), a lactic touch of lemon cream, and the sweetness of peaches in syrup, pineapple in syrup and roasted apricot. There is also a spicy, toasty side of vanilla, wood and toasted hazelnut. Good length, gourmand, tangy and balanced.

An elegant Sauternes wine with beautiful complexity

    The property

Founded in the heart of Bordeaux, the Château Liot is a family vineyard for several generations. Mainly planted with sémillon, the estate stands out for its commitment to sustainable practices and a diversified production of sweet wines and Graves.

    The vineyard

Château Liot 2024 comes from a 24-hectare vineyard located in the Sauternes appellation. The vines, aged 35 to 40 years on average, are planted on red clay soil resting on a bed of fractured limestone. This particular composition of the terroir, combined with the influence of the morning fogs of the Ciron, creates the ideal conditions for the development of botrytis cinerea, essential for the production of great Sauternes wines.

    The vintage

The 2024 vintage harvest took place from September 19 to October 23, allowing a progressive harvest of the grapes at their optimum maturity. The harvest required between 4 and 5 successive passes in the vines to select only the berries affected by noble rot at the ideal time.

    Vinification and aging

The grapes were hand-picked, allowing a rigorous selection of the berries. The vinification respects the traditional methods of the appellation, thus preserving all the aromatic richness and complexity of this exceptional wine.

    Blend

    Sémillon (80%), sauvignon (15%) and muscadelle (5%).
