    Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Margaux 2014

    Tasting

    Color
    Dark to violet color.

    Nose
All in nuance, delicate and subtle, the nose exhales fragrances of red rose petals enhanced with crushed blackberry and fresh blackcurrant, all wrapped in a balsamic touch similar to the scent of Lebanese cedar.

    Palate
A lively attack precedes a palate with frank acidity evolving on a juicy mid-palate, with stretched, elegant, velvety, even creamy tannins. A Margaux with character and a storage potential that will delight the most patient.

The freshness and structure of a great Margaux wine

    The property
With origins dating back to the XIIth century, Château Margaux is part of those Grand Crus that have built the legend of the great wines of Bordeaux around the world. The château will achieve in 1855 the title of Premier Grand Cru Classé and will be the only one of the four châteaux presented to have obtained the score of twenty out of twenty. With the acquisition in 1977 of the property by André Mentzelopoulos, Château Margaux writes a new page of its history. Raising to the highest level the Grand Vin of Château Margaux, he will reintroduce the Second Wine of the château, Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, initiated in 1908. Following in her father's footsteps due to his premature death, Corinne Mentzelopoulos will take up the family banner with energy and passion to maintain the rank of Château Margaux, which has become a Bordeaux masterpiece, so recognizable by its neo-Palladian style. Vintage after vintage, the wines of the property are among the greatest wines in the world.

    The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Margaux owes its particularity to its rare and unique terroir, located on a gravel mound. The grape variety of the property gives pride of place to the flagship black grape of the area, cabernet sauvignon, not forgetting merlot, petit verdot and cabernet franc. The clay-limestone soils of the estate give birth to legendary wines, with a sleek and sensual style, so representative of the Margaux appellation.

    The wine

The 2014 vintage of Château Margaux represents 36% of the total production.

    Blend

90% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot.
