    James Molesworth

Singed cedar, savory and humus accents run alongside a core of currant and bitter cherry fruit, imbuing this with an old-school feel. Reveals a chalky mineral note on the finish. A touch austere but shows good character. Drink now through 2023. 1,500 cases made.

Medium-bodied, forward, open and fresh, with a core of red fruits, green, leafy herbs, and bright, crisp, savory red fruits. You can easily enjoy this on release or age it for a couple of years to add more nuance. The wine was aged with no new oak to maintain the freshness in the fruit.

    Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Made from 100% Merlot, the 2017 Marsau is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It springs from the glass with youthful raspberry coulis, rose oil, aniseed, and wild blueberries, with wafts of lavender and kirsch. The medium-bodied palate is beautifully elegant and refreshing, with fine-grained tannins and a long, mineral-laced finish. This has so much energy!

Well-built, precise and refined, but without the depth of a fine natural vintage.

This is really delicious and already so drinkable with rich cherry and plum character, as well as stone and cement. Medium to full body, creamy and medium-round tannins and a long finish. Burst of red fruit with tile. Crunchy. Savory. 100% merlot. Drink or hold.

    Description

The Generosity and Structure of a Great Francs Côtes de Bordeaux Red Wine

Great terroirs are not found only in the most famous appellations, and Château Marsau is the perfect proof.

Nestled in a verdant setting on one of the highest points of the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, east of Saint-Émilion, Château Marsau tends 13 hectares of vines on a superb terroir.

On these clay soils, a single grape variety truly thrives: Merlot, the reigning red variety of the Right Bank in the Bordeaux region.

The 2017 vintage will long be remembered. With its vineyard hit hard by frost in late April, Château Marsau saw its harvest drastically reduced. Nevertheless, the estate's grand vin, Château Marsau 2017, reflects the meticulous care taken throughout the growing season and showcases the precision of the technical team in a true "winegrower's vintage". Rigorous selection at harvest made it possible to draw the very best from this 2017 vintage.

On tasting, Château Marsau 2017 exudes great aromatic freshness, highlighting the brightness of its fruit. The palate already reveals fine substance, guided by a silky-grained tannic structure that lingers into an elegant finish. Linear and precise, with an identity all its own, Château Marsau 2017 promises to be one of the great successes of its appellation.
