Fairly tough, with loads of slightly dry tannins and moderately concentrated fruit flavors. Lacks balance. May be better in 1999. 17,000 cases made.

95: At the barrel tasting, it came across rather firm, with masculine traits. Tasted three times, always with the same rating level. 98: Dense purple-garnet. On the nose, hints of not-quite-ripe Cabernet, giving a slight touch of geraniol. On the palate, it still feels quite firm and shows a strong Cabernet presence. It’s worth waiting a little longer. 15/20 2000 – 2010

Deep dark red color. Medium to good intensity. Some development on the rim. Intense nose, with notes of ink, leather and undergrowth. A "green" hint. On swirling, very animal, Merlot-like, slightly overripe. The palate surprises with its coherence and harmony. All about roundness, the wine is caressing and develops fruity and spicy notes into a slightly warm finish (a touch of alcohol—I clearly recognize the "Cazes" winemaking style here) and a normal length. Pleasant.
