Château Ormes de Pez 2013

Fresh purple-red, nicely expressed fruit on nose and palate and good tannins for the mid term.

Sweet black cherry, very high, super-fine tannins. Liquorice and leather to finish. Slightly lacking in concentration, as is 2013’s wont. Still, well-formed flavours with good length. (RH)

From a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the wine is forward, medium-bodied, finishing with crisp, spicy red-berry notes, coupled with a kiss of oak.

Garnet color. A fruit-juice-style wine with lovely purity of red fruit.

Made by the team from Château Lynch-Bages, this estate crafts wines in the same generous style. A firm, tannic edge gives structure to the juicy acidity and black currant flavors. Drink from 2018.

High-pitched, with brisk pomegranate, red currant and plum pit notes at the core, carried by tangy acidity and finishing with a slightly taut iron edge. A touch shy on depth but has good energy. Best from 2017 through 2020.

Deep, dense purple. A wonderful, floral Cabernet Sauvignon nose, very aromatic, with a black-fruit blueberry touch. Velvet-textured palate with rounded, almost already charming tannins; the finish shows tobacco-like, skin notes. A terrific Ormes- de-Pez that will, in time, prove the immediate critics of this difficult vintage wrong.

Deep purple, concentrated at the core, with a garnet rim. Beautiful floral Cabernet Sauvignon nose, very aromatic, with a dark-berry profile and a hint of blueberry. Velvety on the palate with rounded, almost already charming tannins; the finish shows tobacco-like, slightly grape-skin notes. A terrific Ormes-de-Pez that will ultimately prove the instant critics of this difficult vintage wrong.

(46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot) A velvety, sweet, peppery bouquet with notes of chocolate, caramel, vanilla and blackberries. Medium-bodied, classic, bourgeois-style palate with sandy tannins, sweet fruit, a firm structure, medium aromatic intensity and a dry finish. 17/20 2020 - 2028
