    Description

An aromatic and indulgent grand wine from Pauillac

    The property
2nd Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac, the magnificent Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande shines on the left bank of Bordeaux. In 2007, Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande began a new chapter in its history by joining the Rouzaud family, owners of the prestigious Champagne House Louis Roederer.

    The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande covers 89 hectares, 84 of which are in production. The soils, composed of gravelly ridges on sandy-clay subsoils, benefit the vines, which are on average 36 years old. This Pauillac vineyard is managed using sustainable viticulture.

    The vintage
The dry winter was followed by a spring where a pleasant warmth combined with significant rainfall. Then, the dry and sunny weather until summer promoted a rapid and regular flowering. A slight water stress, more or less accentuated depending on the grape varieties and soils, is beneficial during the veraison. The few rains in September allow for the refinement of the homogeneous maturation of the vineyard until the harvest of small, flavorful, and fruity berries.
A solar vintage that, with its generosity, grandiloquence, and voluptuousness, has entered the legend of the great Bordeaux vintages.

    Vinification and aging
Following a parcel-by-parcel vinification carried out in thermoregulated stainless steel vats, the aging in barrels (including 60% new barrels) lasts 18 months.

    Blend
Cabernet sauvignon (75%), merlot (20%) and petit verdot (5%).

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2009

    Tasting

    Nose
Typical of the Pauillac appellation, the nose deliciously combines notes of cedar and graphite with aromas of violet and blackberry.

    Palate
Fresh and indulgent, the palate seduces with its generosity and length. Intense aromas of crunchy and tangy red berries mingle with a rich tannic structure, a sign of significant aging potential.
