    Vinum

Plenty of raspberry, subtly smoky, fresh; soft palate, delicate fruit, slightly powdery tannins, red-fruited finish. Successful.

    Vinous

    Antonio Galloni

The 2023 Roylland is heady and exuberant, just as it was en primeur. Inky dark fruit, licorice, cloves and sweet spice tones are all dialed up. This is a decidedly extroverted style, but it all works well. The overall direction here in the last few vintages has been quite positive.

Flowers, mint and fresh red berries define the perfume. The palate comes through with sweet, bright raspberries, plums, and cherries with a delicious creamy finish. Give it just a year or two in the bottle, and it is going to be even better! This little known St. Emilion deserves more attention. Drink from 2027-2040.

    Falstaff

    Falstaff

Dark ruby, purple reflections, brightening at the rim. Fine woody spice, floral nuances, a hint of blackberry confit, some hibiscus. Lean, red-berried, subtle tannins, mineral, cherries on the finish, medium length, a lemony touch on the aftertaste.

This balanced wine is brightly lit with black currant flavors and acidity. Its blueberry aroma and crushed spice flavors are full of promise. The wine should be ready from 2028.

    Yves Beck

With good intensity, the bouquet of Roylland reveals notes of liquorice wood and black berries, followed by a chalky touch. Harmonious from the attack, the wine is linear and ready to be enjoyed. A wine for contemplation; they didn’t try to overdo it, and it suits it very well.

Dark, intense colour. Aromatic nose, with fresh, ripe fruit. Delicate on the attack, flavoursome on the mid-palate, with good flavour; the wine builds through to the finish, delicately rounded and aromatic. Average length. Blend: 65% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: approx. 13.5% – pH: approx. 3.70. Yield: 26 hl/ha. Vinified without sulphur in 35 to 60 hl vats. Aged 50% in new barrels, 50% in vats.
