    Description

The concentration and finesse of a fresh and velvety Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion

    The estate
The earliest traces of Villemaurine date back to the Moorish period when the place was named « Ville Maure ». Since 2005, Château Villemaurine has belonged to the Onclin family. Passionately and skillfully managed by Justin Onclin, Château Villemaurine produces emblematic wines of the appellation, befitting its extraordinary terroir.

    The vineyard
Superbly located in the heart of the village of Saint-Émilion, the vineyard of Château Villemaurine extends over 7 hectares of vines, of which 6 are in production. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soils resting on the famous Astéries limestone.

    The vintage
With contrasting weather, 2019 was marked by a mild winter, a very wet spring and a scorching summer. The significant diurnal temperature variations, however, promoted excellent ripeness while ensuring great fruit freshness. The vineyard's clay-limestone soils prevented the vines from experiencing significant water stress. In September, the Indian summer and some rainfall ensured a serene harvest, with superb berries with thick, colored skins.

    Vinification and aging
For this 2019 vintage of Château Villemaurine, the vinifications of the musts were carried out rapidly and revealed colorful, fruity juices, rich in tannins and of great freshness. The malo-lactic fermentation took place in barrels as did the aging (80% new barrels, 20% in one-wine barrels).

    Blend
    Merlot (80%), Cabernet Franc (20%).
