    Description

An expressive and delicate Pomerol wine

    The estate

Located among the most beautiful crus of its appellation, the Château Vray Croix de Gay is in line with the very beautiful references of Pomerol, on the right bank of the Bordeaux region. Former winemaker of Pétrus, Jean-Claude Berrouet joined the technical teams of the Château in 2013 as a consulting oenologist.

    The vineyard

Château Vray Croix de Gay is a Pomerol wine from a vineyard of 3.67 hectares spread over 9 plots subdivided into micro-plots. The vines, averaging 24 years old, are planted on clayey gravels in the heart of the Pomerol plateau. The vineyard has been certified organic since 2018.

    The vintage

After a cooler and significantly wetter May than usual, flowering took place under good conditions, between the end of May and the beginning of June, thanks to dry and mild weather (17°C). July and August were marked by low rainfall and temperatures in line with averages, causing some stress for the vine. In September, temperatures dropped and rains were more frequent. Despite this, special attention to the health status allowed the merlots to be harvested between September 20 and 25, and the cabernet francs on October 3.

    Vinification and aging

Following a 20-day maceration, the aging is carried out in barrels (80% new barrels) for 18 months.

    Blend

This Château Vray Croix de Gay 2024 is the result of a blend of merlot (79%) and cabernet franc (21%).
