    La RVF

The vintage remains powerfully built as in its early days, yet its pedigree prevails, delivering a vibrant, brilliant finish in a Loire-style expression.

This shows hints of acacia, melon and green almond flitting about, while a core of yellow apple, white peach and star fruit flavors holds sway. Floral and straw notes gild the finish. Drink now through 2021.

    Decanter

A recent project (first vintage 2011) from Olivier Bernard of Domaine de Chevalier. A blend of 70% Semillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc, from vineyards around Sauternes. Beautifully fragrant, with richness on the palate plus stone fruit and pear notes. Lingering lime acidity to finish.

A wild and exotic white with pineapple and cooked-pear character that also turns to baked pears. Full-bodied, dense and layered. 70 percent Semillon and 30 percent Sauvignon. Drink now.

Fresh squeezed grapefruit, honeysuckle and white peach scents are right where they need to be. The wine is fresh, sweet, forward, concentrated and complex.

Made from 70% Sémillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc and produced by the team of Olivier Bernard at Domaine de Chevalier, the 2016 Clos des Lunes Lune d'Argent is a beautiful white readers should buy a case of. Lemon, citrus blossom, white flowers, and honeysuckle notes all emerge from this medium-bodied, pure, elegant white that has both richness and freshness. This is the entry level wine of the estate yet it’s all hand-harvested, fermented in concrete, and aged in older barrels. It’s a beautiful wine.

Pale color. Moderately intense nose with ripe, fresh fruit. Tender palate, flavorful, fruity and pleasant, with an ascending profile through the finish. Medium length. Blend: 70% Sémillon, 30% Sauvignon.

    Description

Rich, generous and full, a fine Bordeaux dry white wine

    The estate

In 2011, Le Clos des Lunes embarked on an ambitious venture with a specific goal in mind: to produce a legendary dry white wine on the exceptional Sauternes terroir. Such is the challenge taken on by the iconic Olivier Bernard and his family, owners of Domaine de Chevalier in Léognan, who, with great passion and enthusiasm, have worked towards elevating Clos des Lunes to be among the biggest Bordeaux dry white wine names, in the midst of sweet wine territory.

    The vineyard

The Clos des Lunes vineyard comprises 70 hectares in the rolling hills of Sauternes. The vines are 30 years old on average and are planted on a tapestry of soils, each contributing to the signature style of the estate's wines. While the deep Sauternes gravels confer a powerful expression, the freshness that characterises the gravelly soils on a clay-limestone substrate in Bommes is combined with the finesse and elegance of the red soils in Barsac.

    Blend

    Sémillon (70%)
    Sauvignon Blanc (30%).
