    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Marsannay Village 2022

    Tasting

    Colour
A brilliant ruby red colour, enhanced by delicate garnet nuances, reveals itself in the glass.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with refined notes of red fruits such as cherry, raspberry and cranberry. With aeration, subtle mineral, earthy and undergrowth touches enrich this palette.

    Palate
The perfectly balanced attack precedes a texture with silky tannins. The palate delicately expresses fresh red fruit aromas, supported by a lovely minerality and light spicy notes. The finish, of moderate persistence, ends with hints of cherry and a touch of salinity.

    Food and wine pairing

This red wine pairs wonderfully with red meats such as ribeye steak or bavette with shallots, as well as slow-cooked dishes like coq au vin. It also beautifully accompanies roasted poultry, freshwater fish in cream sauce, or a platter of cured meats and characterful cheeses such as Époisses.

    Service and storage

For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve the Marsannay Village 2022 at a temperature between 15 and 17°C, taking care to decant it for around fifteen minutes while young. This wine can be enjoyed now, but it will continue to develop in the cellar until around 2032.

    Other characteristics

The alcohol content of this wine ranges between 12 and 12.5%.

The authentic expression of Marsannay terroir by Domaine Bruno Clair

    The estate

Founded in 1979 by Bruno Clair, Domaine Bruno Clair is a key name in Burgundy, France. Born from the desire to preserve a family legacy following the dissolution of the historic Clair-Daü estate, this vineyard now spans 27 hectares across several prestigious villages. The estate is currently run by Bruno and his wife Isabelle, supported by their sons Édouard, Margaux and Arthur, who carry on the family's expertise. Renowned for its environmentally conscious approach and pursuit of authenticity, the estate produces wines of great finesse.

    The vineyard

This wine comes from a plot of approximately 1.4 hectares located in the Marsannay appellation, the northern gateway to the Côte de Nuits. The vines grow at a modest altitude on clay-limestone soils benefiting from a south-east exposure. This orientation captures the morning light while protecting the vines from excessive afternoon heat. The estate favours meticulous soil management, with grass cover between the rows and Guyot-Poussard pruning to preserve the health and longevity of the plants.

    The vintage

The year 2022 began with a rainy winter followed by a cool early spring, delaying budbreak and thus avoiding frost. May, particularly mild, offered excellent conditions for flowering. Summer was then marked by contrasts, with June alternating between warm mornings and storms, followed by a scorching July. The saving rains in early September finally allowed the berries to reach an ideal balance before the harvest.

    Winemaking and aging

For the production of the Marsannay Village 2022, the harvest includes a proportion of 10 to 20% whole clusters. Maceration takes place in open wooden vats for ten to fifteen days. The wine is then aged for 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels, about 20% of which are new, to bring subtle structure without masking the identity of the fruit.
