    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Marsannay Village "Les Longeroies" 2023 from Domaine Bruno Clair

    Tasting Notes

    Appearance
The colour reveals a beautiful ruby red hue.

    Nose
The nose reveals aromas of fresh morello cherry and violet, delicately enhanced by subtle smoky and bloody notes.

    Palate
Full-bodied and fruity, the palate is built on silky, remarkably fine tannins. The well-balanced acidity carries the wine towards a long finish marked by flavours of black cherry and sweet pepper.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This red wine pairs wonderfully with slow-cooked dishes such as a Dijon-style beef bourguignon, or with more robust meats such as pan-seared venison fillet served with roasted celeriac and a poivrade sauce.

    Serving and Cellaring

Approachable in its youth, this Marsannay Village "Les Longeroies" 2023 has fine ageing potential and can be enjoyed until around 2035.

The Finesse and Depth of a Marsannay Red Wine

    The Estate

Officially founded in 1979, Domaine Bruno Clair is a key name in Burgundy. Heir to a long winegrowing lineage, the estate today spans around 27 hectares across eight villages, from the Côte de Nuits to the Côte de Beaune. Currently led by Bruno Clair, his wife Isabelle and their children Édouard, Margaux and Arthur, the family estate stands out for its classic and demanding approach. Committed to sustainable viticulture and currently converting to organic farming, the estate strives to faithfully express the complexity of its terroirs.

    The Vineyard

This cuvée comes from a 1.36-hectare plot located within the Marsannay appellation. Facing east and southeast at an altitude of around 300 metres, these very old vines were mostly planted between 1924 and 1928. They thrive on a uniform terroir made up of clay-limestone soils, resting on Prémeaux limestone, Bresse marl and combe scree.

    The Vintage

2023 was marked by relatively sunny weather conditions. However, this warmth was perfectly balanced by the nighttime coolness inherent to the altitude of the plots, giving the grapes optimal phenolic ripeness while preserving a lovely acidic backbone.

    Winemaking and Ageing

The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. For this Marsannay Village "Les Longeroies" 2023, vinification includes 30 to 50% whole clusters. A 10 to 15-day maceration takes place in wooden vats. The wine then undergoes a long ageing process of 18 to 20 months in oak barrels, with a quarter to a third new oak as needed, allowing the wine to gain structure while preserving the brightness of the fruit.

    Grape Variety

    100% Pinot Noir.
