The nose opens on aromas of red fruits such as cherry, pomegranate and wild berries. It is enriched with notes of Mediterranean herbs and maquis scrubland, complemented by a delicate touch of violet and subtle earthy nuances.
Palate
Fresh and full of vibrancy, the palate seduces with fine, silky tannins. Carried by lovely acidity, it unfolds flavours of red fruits and spiced herbs that stretch towards a long, mineral finish.
Food and Wine Pairing
This red wine pairs wonderfully with a Corsican charcuterie platter, grilled or roasted red meats such as lamb with maquis herbs, as well as game. It will also pair very well with fresh or lightly matured goat's cheeses.
Serving and Ageing
To fully enjoy the Ministre Impérial 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 16 to 17°C, after decanting or early opening. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth but has the potential to develop further, allowing it to be cellared until around 2034.
An Exceptional Vin de France by Domaine Comte Abbatucci
The Estate
Established in Corsica at the heart of the Taravo valley, Domaine Comte Abbatucci traces its family origins back to the 16th century, although the birth of its modern vineyard dates back to the 1920s. Now led by Jean-Charles Abbatucci, the estate is distinguished by its deep commitment to biodynamics and the preservation of the island's heritage. A true ampelographic conservatory established in the 1960s, the estate cultivates rare endemic grape varieties. It now stands as an essential reference, producing distinctive and vibrant wines that celebrate the richness of their terroir.
The Vineyard
Located south of Ajaccio, the vineyard behind this Vin de France flourishes at an altitude of 100 to 150 metres on hillsides of granitic arenas. Mostly north-facing, the vines benefit from a cool microclimate and excellent ventilation. Cultivated biodynamically, the terroir is worked with draft horses, while a flock of sheep maintains the natural grass cover. This symbiosis between plant and animal, combined with rigorous massale selections and suitable rootstocks, fosters exceptional biodiversity and a deep respect for the environment.
Winemaking and Ageing
Hand-harvested grapes in small crates undergo meticulous sorting both in the vineyard and at the winery. The harvest is received by gravity to preserve the integrity of the berries. Spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts take place in temperature-controlled conical wooden vats, accompanied by around a month of maceration with daily punching down and pumping over. The Ministre Impérial 2024 is then aged for twelve months in foudres and demi-muids, before several additional months of refinement in stainless steel tanks. A light filtration may be carried out before bottling.
Grape Varieties
This wine is a blend of Sciaccarellu, Niellucciu and Aleatico.
