    Description

The aromatic richness and mineral freshness of a white Vin de France

    The estate
Officially founded in 1950, Comte Abbatucci is an emblematic figure of winegrowing. The estate extends over around one hundred hectares, twenty-one of which are devoted to vines. Now run by Jean-Charles Abbatucci, this highly renowned domaine stands out for its deep commitment to biodynamics and the preservation of the island's heritage. A veritable ampelographic conservatory, it cultivates rare native grape varieties within a rich ecosystem, producing authentic wines.

    The vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from a historic two-hectare plot planted in the early 1960s. Located at an altitude of approximately one hundred and fifty metres on granitic sand soils, this vineyard enjoys a Mediterranean climate tempered by sea breezes. The vines, grown at high density, thrive in this poor, well-drained terroir, which naturally limits vine vigour. This wine is produced under the Vin de France appellation.

    Vinification and ageing
After hand harvesting, the berries undergo direct pressing, either as whole bunches or destemmed. The must is then cold-settled for twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Fermentation takes place in used 600-litre French oak demi-muids. The wine is aged there on full lees for nine months, before being blended and continuing its maturation in stainless steel tanks for six to seven months. Stabilisation is carried out naturally by cold, followed by a light filtration.

    Grape varieties
This wine is made from a blend of six native grape varieties: Vermentino (approximately 37 to 40%), Rossola Bianca, Bianco Gentile, Genovese, Brustiano and Barbarossa. These historic island varieties, carefully safeguarded by the domaine, give the wine a unique identity and a singular aromatic complexity.
