An aromatic, subtle white wine by Abbatucci

The estate
Located at over 100 meters above sea level, the Domaine Comte Abbatucci owns one of the oldest vineyards in Corsica.

With origins dating back more than a century, the estate pays tribute, through its cuvées, to illustrious members of the family (a General of the French Revolution, a diplomat, a minister under the reign of Napoleon III) whose destinies shaped the family’s history.

Keen to preserve this exceptional island terroir, the estate cultivates native grape varieties that give its wines a unique character.
Since 2000, the entire vineyard has been farmed biodynamically, to showcase the distinctive characteristics of a singular Corsican terroir while preserving an exceptional natural environment.

The vineyard
Produced as Vin de France, the Diplomate d’Empire 2015 cuvée from Domaine Abbatucci comes from a vineyard facing north to northeast, where the vines thrive on a granitic, sandy-silty terroir.

Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested, the berries are carefully sorted in the vineyard and then in the cellar, before direct pressing as whole clusters. After a static settling period of 24 to 48 hours, alcoholic fermentation is carried out in 600-liter demi-muids.
Lasting 9 months, aging on total lees is followed by 2 months of aging in tanks after blending the finest lots.
A final bottle aging of at least 6 months follows bottling, carried out with light filtration if necessary.

Blend
Diplomate d’Empire 2015 from Domaine Abbatucci is the result of a blend of Vermentino, Brustiano, Bianco Gentile, Genovese, and Rossola Bianca.

Tasting
Color
The wine shows a beautiful pale yellow hue.
Nose

The nose combines aromas of very ripe yellow fruit and exotic fruits with subtle notes of maquis.
Palate
The palate charms with its freshness, giving this wine delicious power and a rare length on the finish.
