Fluid and refined, the attack gives way to a silky texture underpinned by exceptionally fine tannins. This romantic wine offers a lace-like texture that extends into a mouth-watering, lingering finish.
Food and wine pairing
This grand cru pairs beautifully with meats of measured intensity, in order to preserve its delicacy. It will ideally accompany feathered game such as partridge or pheasant, roast poultry, delicately prepared veal, or dishes featuring mushrooms such as morels or chanterelles.

The finesse of a Vosne-Romanée grand cru crafted by Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
The estate
Founded in 1869 when Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet acquired the eponymous plot, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is an icon of Burgundy. Located in Vosne-Romanée, this legendary estate is now headed by Perrine Fenal and Bertrand de Villaine. A fervent advocate of terroir-driven viticulture, the estate stands out for its certified biodynamic practices, very low yields and whole-cluster vinification. This French gem cultivates excellence through a unique heritage of grands crus, producing wines of remarkable depth and longevity.
The vineyard
The Romanée-Saint-Vivant comes from a historic 5.28-hectare plot farmed by the estate. Resting on deep, calcareous brown soils that are strongly clay-rich, this terroir benefits from a temperate semi-continental climate. The vines, averaging around forty years of age, come from a rigorous massal selection. The soil is worked with great care, notably including horse ploughing to preserve the living structure of the earth and its biodiversity.
The vintage
2022 stood out for particularly favourable weather conditions, offering a harmonious growing cycle. This mild climate allowed for a happy combination of generous abundance and impeccable grape health, recalling the exceptional characteristics of the 1959 vintage.
Winemaking and ageing
The hand-picked grapes undergo meticulous sorting, both in the vineyard and at the winery. The Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru "Marey-Monge" 2022 is vinified with a high proportion of whole clusters, with gentle punching down and regular pumping over during a fermentation period of around three weeks driven by indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for two winters exclusively in new oak barrels, the wood having been air-dried for three years and benefiting from a long, gentle toasting.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
