A fresh and expressive Puligny-Montrachet
The estate
Domaine du Cellier aux Moines was founded in 1130 by the Cistercian monks of the Ferté Abbey. These monks were the first to build the famous Clos of Burgundy. Since 2004, the Pascal family has successfully undertaken to restore the estate and bring back all its vitality, with a conversion to biodynamics now complete.
The vineyard
The Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos les Pucelles 2020 cuvée from Domaine du Cellier aux Moines comes from a small 27-are plot with a south-eastern exposure in the village of Puligny-Montrachet, within the former Clos des Meix. The 50-year-old vines are cultivated between 205 and 207 metres of altitude on very fine clay-limestone soils. The vineyard has been farmed biodynamically since 2017.
The vintage
A dry winter was followed by a warm spring with low rainfall, encouraging an early budburst and flowering observed in mid-May. The summer was marked by intense drought, with a water deficit of 200 mm during fruit set and véraison. The vigilance and rigour of the teams made it possible to tend the vineyard in the best possible conditions despite these extreme conditions, which led to a drop in yields. The harvest was of very high quality, with concentrated grapes, perfectly ripe and showing a fine balance.
2020 celebrates the Organic Agriculture certification of Domaine du Cellier aux Moines as well as the fourth vintage produced biodynamically.

The Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos les Pucelles 2020 from Domaine du Cellier aux Moines is 100% Chardonnay.
