    Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Domaine du Colombier’s 2020 Hermitage

    Tasting

    Appearance

The wine shows a bright, clear golden-yellow hue.

    Nose

The bouquet reveals a complex aromatic palette, combining notes of white flowers, apricot and peach, enhanced by hints of honey and toasted almond.

    Palate

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and generous, offering a creamy texture balanced by lovely freshness. The finish is long and persistent, marked by aromas of dried fruit and a delicate minerality.

    Food and wine pairings

This white wine will pair perfectly with shellfish, fish in sauce, poultry in a cream sauce, or cooked pressed cheeses.

    Serving and cellaring

For optimal tasting, serve between 12 and 14°C. This wine has excellent cellaring potential and can evolve favorably over several years.

A rich and elegant white Hermitage

    The estate

Domaine du Colombier, located in Mercurol, is a family estate run by Florent Viale. Founded in 1991, the estate quickly established itself as a benchmark in the Northern Rhône Valley. The vineyard is managed with care, favoring environmentally respectful methods to best express the terroir.

    The vineyard

The vines used to craft this white Hermitage are planted on granitic and alluvial terroirs on the famous hillside of Hermitage. The exposure and soils give the wine its power and complexity.

    The vintage

The 2020 vintage in the Rhône Valley is characterized by its early ripening and balance. The white wines offer fine aromatic richness while retaining welcome freshness.

    Vinification and aging

The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. Vinification is traditional, with aging in barrels (demi-muids) that brings structure and complexity to the wine without masking the fruit.
