    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the 2024 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru "Les Ouvrées Rodin" from Domaine Faiveley

    Tasting notes

    Appearance
The colour reveals a deep ruby hue, occasionally shifting towards garnet, while retaining beautiful clarity and a brilliant shine.

    Nose
Particularly seductive and complex, the bouquet exudes aromas of well-ripened red and black fruits such as cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant. It is enriched by delicate notes of spiced flowers reminiscent of rose or peony, underscored by touches of cinnamon and clove.

    Palate
The palate stands out for its remarkably fine tannins and sustained vivacity. The balance is remarkable, offering an aromatic freshness carried by notes of fresh mint and white pepper, stretching towards an exceptionally long finish.

    Food and wine pairing

This great red wine pairs wonderfully with roasted meats such as oven-roasted duckling, pigeon or young venison. It will also beautifully complement dishes with character, such as hare stew or sautéed veal with Mediterranean flavours.

    Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate the 2024 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru "Les Ouvrées Rodin", it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of around 15°C, after one to two hours of aeration or light decanting. With a structure built to last, this wine can be cellared and enjoyed until approximately 2049.

The elegance and complexity of a grand cru from Burgundy, France

    The estate

Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is a true institution in Burgundy, France. At the helm of an estate spanning more than 120 hectares across the region's finest terroirs, the property is now led by the seventh generation, embodied by Erwan and Eve Faiveley. Combining respect for tradition with a modern vision, the estate stands out for its strong environmental commitment, crowned by organic farming certification in 2025. It produces wines that combine power, elegance and purity.

    The vineyard

The cuvée comes from an exclusive 0.3296-hectare plot within the Chambertin-Clos de Bèze climat, named "Les Ouvrées Rodin" in tribute to the patron of the famous sculptor. Located in the southern part of the appellation, these old pinot noir vines were planted in 1966. They thrive on scree soils particularly rich in limestone, which give the wine its depth. The vineyard is tended with meticulous care, favouring ploughing and an approach respectful of biodiversity.

    Winemaking and ageing

The grapes for the 2024 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru "Les Ouvrées Rodin" are harvested by hand with extreme care. The berries are transported in small crates and then destemmed without crushing to preserve their full integrity. Fermentation begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for 14 to 18 months in French oak barrels, in the estate's 19th-century vaulted cellars, allowing for a subtle integration of oak.
