Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Amoureuses" 2023 by Joseph Faiveley

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a beautiful red hue with garnet nuances of medium intensity.

    Nose
The bouquet opens with delicate floral notes intertwined with red fruit aromas, particularly reminiscent of ripe cherry. With aeration, it gains complexity, revealing toasted touches as well as subtle mineral and earthy nuances.

    Palate
The palate seduces with its silky texture and graceful structure. It expresses delicious red fruit notes supported by fine, perfectly integrated tannins. A lovely vibrancy accompanies the whole through to a lingering finish, enhanced by mineral and spicy accents.

    Food and Wine Pairing

This red wine pairs wonderfully with delicate feathered game such as partridge or pheasant. It also elegantly accompanies duck, veal or beef dishes served with a light sauce, as well as mushroom-based recipes. When it comes to cheese, it enhances soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert, and can even surprise alongside mildly spiced Asian cuisine.

    Service and Storage

This Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Amoureuses" 2023 can be enjoyed from 2026 and will continue to evolve favourably, drinking well until around 2034.

The Excellence and Heritage of Domaine Faiveley in Burgundy

    The Estate

Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley has established itself as a true institution in Burgundy. Now led by the seventh generation, embodied by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, the estate oversees a vineyard of approximately 127 hectares spread across the region's most prestigious terroirs. Combining respect for ancestral traditions with technical innovation, the estate stands out for its environmental commitment, with a full conversion to organic farming planned for 2025. Under the technical direction of Jérôme Flous, the wines express all the finesse and elegance of their native climats.

    The Vineyard

The Chambolle-Musigny terroir benefits from an optimal south-east exposure, at an altitude ranging from 250 to 300 metres. The Premier Cru "Les Amoureuses" plot, covering a total area of approximately 5.4 hectares, rests on complex geology. The upper part of the vineyard is composed of hard limestone, while the lower section is characterised by white marl rich in oyster fossils. These limestone and marl soils, combined with a proportion of clay, provide ideal drainage and give the vines an environment conducive to producing great wines.

    The Vintage

The 2023 vintage stood out for its particularly generous weather conditions. The growing cycle benefited from abundant rainfall early in the season, followed by a hot summer that accelerated vine development. At the end of the cycle, a heat spike allowed the berries to reach optimal ripeness. Faced with this natural abundance, rigorous work in the vineyard, including very severe green harvesting, was essential to control yields and guarantee the exceptional quality of the harvested fruit.

    Winemaking and Aging

The berries destined for this Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Amoureuses" 2023 are entirely destemmed before being placed in vats. The winery, designed to operate exclusively by gravity, avoids any mechanical pumping in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. Fermentation takes place in new wooden vats, accompanied by measured punching down for gentle extraction. Ageing then takes place in French oak barrels, with a proportion of up to two-thirds new wood, sourced from renowned coopers.

    Grape Variety

    Pinot Noir (100%).
