Wow. This is a solid Corton with ripe strawberries, plums, bark and porcini. Full-bodied with tight, fine tannins, focused depth of fruit and excellent length. Quite muscular for the vintage. Better after 2023.

Barrel sample. Mid to deep cherry red. Dark fruits with a hint of violets and a very faint stemmy note – herbal but not unripe (though I don’t think there were any stems in the ferment). The floral side is present yet delicate. Lighter-bodied than the Faiveley Côte de Nuits grands crus just tasted, tighter, a little more severe on the palate but that perfume is from start to finish. The estate’s wine style has evolved, as evidenced by this 2018 Corton. It is certainly built for aging and shows great depth, but the tannins are delicate within a very fine, silky body.
