Description
The complexity and concentration of a red Burgundy
The estate
Established in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, since 1825, the Faiveley family is at the helm of one of Burgundy's finest estates. Since 2005, the seventh generation of the family has ensured the continuity of this Burgundian gem, embodied by two deeply passionate figures: Erwan Faiveley and his sister, Eve Faiveley. With more than 120 hectares of vineyards, Domaine Faiveley is one of the largest estates in Burgundy, as well as one of the most prestigious. With exceptional Grand Cru and Premier Cru plots, the Faiveley family enjoys a remarkable winemaking heritage.
The vineyard
Although Domaine Faiveley was historically based in the Côte de Nuits, in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the house gradually expanded its vineyard holdings into the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise. Today, Domaine Faiveley owns 12 Grands Crus and 25 Premiers Crus in Burgundy and watches over an exceptional winemaking heritage.
The wine
Domaine Faiveley's "Lavaux Saint-Jacques" is a 1er Cru Gevrey-Chambertin wine from a one-hectare vineyard planted in 1968, 1986, 1993 and 2019. Acquired in 2013, this terroir lies on fossil-rich rock and clay soils. Recognised as one of the three finest Premiers Crus in Gevrey-Chambertin, alongside "Cazetiers" and "Clos Saint-Jacques", this vineyard produces wines of great delicacy.
The grape variety
