    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the 2024 Meursault Village from Domaine Matrot

    Tasting notes

    Nose
This wine expresses all the elegance and fruity purity characteristic of pinot noir.

    Palate
The tasting reveals a powerful, structured profile. The palate offers ample texture, dominated by generous aromas of dark fruit. Its firm structure will soften harmoniously over time.

    Serving and cellaring
With its solid structure, this 2024 Meursault Village will soften after a few years of bottle ageing, gradually revealing its full complexity.

A powerful expression of pinot noir at Domaine Matrot

    The estate
Founded in 1914 in Meursault and located at the heart of Burgundy, this wine estate spans 24.25 hectares of vines. Now run by sisters Adèle and Elsa Matrot, current owners and representatives of the sixth generation, this family estate stands out for its complete conversion to organic farming since 2000. The estate's expertise, combining tradition with technical precision, has established Domaine Matrot as an unmissable reference within its appellation.

    The vineyard
The grapes come from two plots located at the foot of the Santenots slopes, in the Volnay sector, close to Meursault. The vines, which have an average age of twenty years, are carefully tended to bring out the full typicity of this terroir.

    Winemaking and ageing
The harvest is 100% destemmed before undergoing a cold maceration of three to six days at a temperature of 10°C. Fermentation, initiated by indigenous yeasts, lasts between twelve and eighteen days, with punching down and pumping over carried out twice daily, adjusted according to the vintage. This 2024 Meursault Village is then aged for fifteen months in oak barrels, including 20% new wood, before finishing with three months of maturation in tank. Lenticular filtration is carried out prior to bottling.
