    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru "La Riotte" 2022 from Domaine Perrot-Minot

    Tasting notes

    Colour
The colour reveals a deep ruby red hue with dark undertones.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with intense notes of red fruit, enhanced by a delicate saline touch and a hint of white pepper. With aeration, it reveals a beautiful minerality and subtle spice.

    Palate
The palate offers a lovely breadth of ripe fruit, perfectly balanced by a structured backbone and mineral tension. The tannins are fine and powdery, lending a texture that is both supple and vibrant. The mid-palate is concentrated, leading into a persistent finish with beautiful freshness.

    Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs wonderfully with traditional Burgundian dishes such as beef bourguignon or coq au vin. It will also enhance roasted poultry such as duck, game meats, as well as mushroom-based recipes or aged natural-rind cheeses.

    Service and storage
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru "La Riotte" 2022 between 14 and 16°C, taking care to decant it about thirty minutes before serving. Built for aging, it can be laid down and enjoyed until at least 2040.

The elegance and minerality of a Morey-Saint-Denis wine

    The estate
The history of Domaine Perrot-Minot, located in Burgundy, dates back to the mid-18th century. Originally known as Merme-Morizot, the estate has built a solid reputation over generations. Now at the helm of the property, Christophe Perrot-Minot, who took over in 1993, embodies rigor and precision. Under his leadership, the estate has adopted certified organic practices and is moving toward biodynamics, favoring very low yields to express the quintessence of its terroirs with remarkable precision.

    The vineyard
The cuvée comes from a plot classified under the Morey-Saint-Denis premier cru appellation. The vines thrive on marl-rich, very stony soils, abundant in clay and limestone. This distinctive terroir, carefully tended, gives the wine its mineral and saline character.

    The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by extreme weather conditions. After a wet autumn and a freezing December, spring turned out dry and particularly warm from May onward. Summer was among the hottest on record, punctuated by several heatwaves. However, thanks to water reserves accumulated during winter, the vines withstood the conditions remarkably well. Harvesting began early to preserve the full freshness of the berries.

    Winemaking and aging
After a very rigorous sorting process in the vineyard and then on an optical sorting table, the grapes for this Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru "La Riotte" 2022 undergo cold maceration. Fermentation then begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place in oak barrels. The wine is bottled by gravity, without fining or filtration.
