Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Nuance 2024 Domaine Vincent Pinard
The precision and minerality of a Sancerre white wine
The estate
The Pinard family's winegrowing history in the Loire valley dates back to the era of Henri IV, but it was in 1970 that the estate officially took the name Domaine Vincent Pinard. Located in Bué, at the heart of the Sancerre appellation in France, this 17-hectare vineyard is now run by brothers Florent and Clément Pinard. Representing more than twenty generations of expertise, they uphold an environmentally conscious philosophy, with organic and biodynamic practices, establishing the estate as one of the region's leading benchmarks.
The vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from two iconic plots in the village of Bué, Pélerine and La Plante des Près, located within the Sancerre appellation. Rising to between 240 and 275 meters in altitude, these vines, around fifty years old, thrive on caillottes terroirs made up of hard Kimmeridgian and Oxfordian limestone. The estate favors organic viticulture and applies biodynamic principles, with no use of herbicides or chemical pesticides, in order to preserve the natural expression of the soils.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for the Nuance 2024 cuvée are hand-harvested, followed by a thorough double sorting in the vineyard and on a vibrating sorting table. Long, gentle pneumatic pressing precedes fermentation carried out exclusively with indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place over a period of seven to nine months, divided between stainless steel tanks and one-year-old oak barrels. To preserve its full complexity, the wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
Grape variety
This wine is made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc.
