Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Domaine Vincent Pinard 2024 Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes
Appearance
This red wine reveals a bright, clear ruby hue, adorned with subtle glints reminiscent of black cherry and touches of purple.
Nose
The bouquet is particularly intense and precise. It exudes aromas of fresh, tangy red fruits such as raspberry and wild cherry, harmoniously intertwined with floral notes of peony and violet. Delicate hints of white pepper along with light smoky and toasted accents add further complexity.
Palate
From the very first sip, the texture comes across as clean and quickly takes on a pleasant richness. The wine is supple, sleek and perfectly balanced, supported by silky tannins that are already well integrated. The tangy fruit expression brings lovely freshness, resulting in a light, elegant finish that is easy to drink.
Food and Wine Pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with delicate white meats such as grilled chicken tenders or roast quail served with a reduced jus. It also shines alongside veal shank, pan-seared firm-fleshed fish, as well as mild cheeses, whether soft cow's milk cheeses or lightly aged goat cheeses.
Serving and Cellaring
To fully appreciate this 2024 Pinot Noir, it is recommended to let it rest in the cellar for a few years. It will begin to reveal its full potential from 2026, reach its peak between 2028 and 2032, and can be enjoyed until around 2034.
The Authentic Expression of Sancerre Terroir by Domaine Vincent Pinard
The Estate
Located in Bué, in the heart of the Loire Valley, Domaine Vincent Pinard stands as an essential reference. While the family's winegrowing history dates back to the era of Henri IV, the estate was formally established under its current name in the early 1970s, thanks to the vision of Vincent Pinard. Today, his sons Florent and Clément run this 17-hectare property. Guided by a hands-off, artisanal philosophy, they craft cuvées that rank among the very best in the appellation, combining respect for tradition with remarkable precision that has earned the estate international acclaim.
The Vineyard
The grapes come exclusively from plots located in the commune of Bué, within the Sancerre appellation. The vines, around thirty years old, thrive on clay-limestone soils resting on a limestone bedrock. Farmed using an organic approach inspired by biodynamics, the vineyard benefits from meticulous soil work, controlled cover cropping and a high planting density. Yields are strictly limited through practices such as bud thinning and green harvesting, ensuring optimal concentration in the berries.
Winemaking and Aging
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, followed by a rigorous double sorting, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. After complete destemming, the berries for this 2024 Pinot Noir undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration in truncated wooden vats. Fermentation begins naturally through indigenous yeasts, accompanied by very gentle punching down and pumping over to preserve the finesse of the fruit. The wine is then aged for 11 to 15 months in used oak barrels. Finally, this red Sancerre wine is racked by gravity and bottled without any fining or filtration.
