Characteristics and tasting advice for Isautier Antoinette 13 Years Old 2006
Tasting
Color
This rum displays an elegant amber hue.
Nose
On first nosing, the rum opens with fresh aromas of mint and anise, complemented by citrus notes—particularly lemon—along with ginger and pear. With aeration, the aromatic profile gains depth with powdered cocoa, almond and rooty nuances.
Palate
Broad, rich and silky, this spirit reveals a powerful, woody character on the palate. The tasting experience centers on stewed fruit with a remarkable abundance of flavors: stone fruit, pastry, vanilla, spices, chocolate, as well as evocative hints of a cigar box. The finish, surprisingly long, is marked by aromas of aromatic herbs and eucalyptus, both woody and refreshing. It perfectly unites vanilla and ginger with notes of precious woods and cocoa.
Food pairings and tasting moments
This exceptional rum is best enjoyed neat, to fully appreciate the complexity of its 13 years of aging.
Mixology
For lovers of classic cocktails, this amber rum is ideal for making a rum Old Fashioned: add 2 teaspoons of sugar and 1 dash of Angostura bitters to a glass with an ice cube. Once the ice cube has slightly melted, stir. Add the remaining ice and 50 ml of rum, then stir for 60 seconds.
An exceptional Réunion rum aged 13 years in French oak barrels
Isautier, the oldest Réunion rum distillery
Founded in 1845 by brothers Louis and Charles Isautier, Isautier remains the oldest rum distillery on Réunion Island and one of the three producers still active on the island. Established in Saint-Pierre, this French family-owned house, now run by Cyril Isautier, masters the entire production chain, from the cultivation of selected sugarcane to distillation. A pioneer of infused rums inspired by maritime traditions, Isautier offers white, aged and infused rums with a fresh, fruity style and finely integrated oak. Present in twenty-five countries, it combines centuries-old heritage with modern entrepreneurial drive.
Antoinette 13 Years Old 2006, a tribute to an iconic figure
This traditional rum pays tribute to Antoinette Isautier, an iconic figure who ran the Réunion distillery following the death of her husband, Charles Isautier, founder of the House. Distilled in 2006, Antoinette 13 Years Old 2006 was aged for 13 years in fine-grain French oak barrels that previously held Cognac and Isautier rum. This double maturation gives the spirit remarkable aromatic complexity, combining freshness with rich oak.
This is a limited edition of only 1,744 bottles, making each one a collector’s item for enthusiasts of exceptional rums. Produced on Réunion Island, this amber rum embodies the ancestral know-how of the Isautier distillery and offers a vibrant tribute to one of the women who shaped its history.
