The estate

Founded in 1998 by Stephan Asseo, a French winemaker who came to California in search of greater creative freedom, the L'Aventure estate stretches along the central coast. Today, the property is still run by its current owners, Stephan and Béatrice Asseo, alongside their daughter Chloé. By breaking free from the strict rules of European appellations, the family has managed to elevate its brand among the region's leading names. The estate stands out for its bold blends and outstanding viticulture, combining Bordeaux expertise with the richness of American terroir.

The vineyard

The vines used for this cuvée thrive on the western slope of Paso Robles, in the foothills of the Santa Lucia Mountains. This distinctive terroir enjoys a Mediterranean climate and fractured limestone soils that encourage deep root growth. Vineyard management draws on European traditions, with a very high planting density. To ensure maximum grape concentration, yields are kept extremely low, ranging between 1.5 and 2 tons per acre.

Winemaking and aging

To preserve the full authenticity of the fruit, the Estate Reserve 2023 is made without any fining or filtration. This American wine is aged for 21 months in French oak barrels, made up of 85% new barrels and 15% one-year-old barrels.

Grape varieties

This blend is made up of 50% syrah, 40% cabernet sauvignon and 10% petit verdot.
