    The Estate

Since 1808, Maison M. Chapoutier, located in Tain-L’Hermitage, has established itself as one of the leading names in the Rhône Valley.

Michel Chapoutier, both winegrower and négociant, has, over the years, elevated this family estate to the elite of the region’s vineyards. The house’s wines are distinguished by their finesse and quality, appreciated by connoisseurs around the world. Michel Chapoutier also holds the world record for perfect scores (100/100) awarded by critic Robert Parker. Today, his daughter Mathilde continues the family tradition and oversees a vineyard spanning over 350 hectares, covering the most illustrious appellations of the north and south of the valley.

    The Vineyard

L’Ermite Red comes from biodynamically farmed vines since 1991, located at the summit of the Hermitage hill, around the famous chapel of the lieu-dit L’Ermite. This exceptional terroir is composed of thin, sandy, leached brown soils derived from the Tournon granite. Some old vines, up to 120 years old, thrive on these very poor granitic soils. In a constant quest for authenticity, a significant portion of the vines is pre-phylloxeric or derived from layering, which means they are own-rooted, without grafting.

    Grape Variety

This Ermitage wine is a 100% Syrah.
