    Robert Parker

    Mark Squires

The 2019 Vintage Port is a field blend from old vines (80 to 100 years old) aged for 21 months in large Portuguese oak vats. It comes in with 88 grams per liter of residual sugar and 19.3% alcohol. This was originally seen about three months after bottling. It has settled in a bit, but it still has a long life ahead. Fresh, as always, this also has a beautiful expression of fruit. It is delicious and ripe, with many more years ahead. It isn't drinking too badly now, but of course it has not even begun to acquire complexity. This is a beauty, but its best years are ahead.

    Falstaff

    Falstaff

Dark ruby, purple reflections, delicate rim brightening. A hint of dark couverture and apricot confit à la Sachertorte, sweet pipe tobacco, inviting bouquet. Juicy, elegant, integrated sweetness, ripe plum, vivid, supporting tannins, mineral finish, delicate honey aftertaste, will develop quickly.

    Weinwisser

Complex, seductive spicy-fruity bouquet with tobacco, cassis, coffee, fresh blueberries and a hint of vanilla. Crisp tannic structure on the palate, slightly less opulent red-berry fruit and spicy notes. Long, fresh finish.

    The estate

For five generations, the Niepoort family has been passionately crafting ports renowned for their great quality, the result of a blend between ancestral expertise and exceptional terroir. These exceptional wines, displaying rare concentration and elegance, are internationally recognized by numerous critics.

    The vineyard

Niepoort oversees a Portuguese vineyard benefiting from a continental microclimate sheltered from marine influences by the surrounding mountains. Deeply rooted, the vines are planted on predominantly schistous soils.

    Blend

The Niepoort Vintage Port 2019 is a wine from Duriense resulting from a blend of several grape varieties: touriga franca, tinto cão, tinta amarela, sousão, tinta roriz…
