An exceptional Tyrolean orange eau-de-vie aged seven years
Rochelt, Austrian excellence in fruit eau-de-vie
Founded in 1970 by Günter Rochelt in a garage in the Austrian Tyrol, Rochelt embodies excellence in fruit eau-de-vie. Officially established in Fritzens, Austria, near Innsbruck in 1989, this family distillery is now run by Alexander Rainer, the founder’s son-in-law and current CEO. Maison Rochelt stands out for its uncompromising artisanal approach: natural fermentation with no additives, traditional Tyrolean double distillation, and an exceptional ratio requiring up to 80 kg of fruit for one liter of heart cut. Each bottle, topped with a goldsmith-crafted stopper, reflects expertise passed down over six years between master and successor.
Orange 2015: an exceptional vintage made from Sicilian oranges
Rochelt Orange 2015 is crafted from Washington Navel oranges from Sicily, grown without treatment until full ripeness. Using whole fruit makes it possible to achieve aromatic harmony between the fruit’s freshness and the bitterness of the zest.
Production follows the house’s traditional method: natural fermentation without additives, then traditional Tyrolean double distillation in a copper still. The fruit yield is remarkable, requiring up to 80 kg of fruit to produce 1 liter of heart cut.
This 2015 vintage benefited from extended aging of at least seven years in an open glass demijohn, allowing the spirit to develop great smoothness and elegance despite its 58% alcohol. The eau-de-vie remains unfiltered to preserve the full range of its aromatic qualities.
