Description
The structure and aromatic expression of a white wine from Patagonia
The estate
Bodega Chacra invites you to the heart of the Río Negro region, at the southern tip of Argentina. This rare gem was brought to life in 2004 by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta. The adventure began at a tasting in New York, when he tasted a wine that caught his particular attention: a Pinot Noir from Río Negro. For our protagonist, this was a revelation, as he immediately recognized the full potential of these terroirs: ungrafted vines from 1932, massal selections, ideal climatic conditions… Thus, Piero Incisa della Rocchetta set out for this natural jewel to create his dream wines – nectars that, as he says, can convey the taste of "a place on the planet".
The vineyard
Bodega Chacra is rooted in the heart of the Río Negro region in Patagonia, in a land formed at the confluence of the Limay and Neuquén rivers. From there, they extend to the horizon, through plains and forests, at an altitude between 290 and 330 meters. There, in the heart of this green lung, the estate thrives, nestled in a natural jewel with 24 hectares of vines. The estate is farmed organically and biodynamically.
The wine
Mainqué Chardonnay is the result of a collaboration between Bodega Chacra and Jean-Marc Roulot, the iconic winemaker from Meursault.
Grape variety
Mainqué 2024 Blanc de Chacra is 100% Chardonnay.
