Description
The tension and aromatic richness of a white wine from Patagonia
The estate
Bodega Chacra invites you into the Río Negro region, nestled at the southern tip of Argentina. This gem was founded in 2004 by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta. The story began at a tasting in New York, where one wine immediately caught his eye: a Pinot Noir from Río Negro. It was a true revelation for our protagonist, who instantly grasped everything these terroirs had to offer: ungrafted vines dating back to 1932, massal selections, ideal climatic conditions… Piero Incisa della Rocchetta then set off for this far-flung corner of the world to craft the wines he had long envisioned, wines capable of conveying the taste of “a place on the planet”, in his own words.
The vineyard
Bodega Chacra is rooted in the heart of the Río Negro region in Patagonia, a territory shaped by the confluence of two rivers, the Limay and the Neuquén. From there, they stretch out towards the horizon, across plains and forests, at an altitude of between 290 and 330 metres. It is in the heart of this vast natural landscape that the estate thrives, cradled within 24 hectares of vines. The entire vineyard is farmed organically and biodynamically.
The wine
Mainqué Chardonnay was born from the meeting between Bodega Chacra and Jean-Marc Roulot, a leading winegrower in Meursault.
Grape variety
Chacra's Mainqué 2025 Blanc is made from 100% Chardonnay.
