Description
Tasting Notes and Characteristics of Cristal Rosé 2015 Louis Roederer
Tasting
Appearance
A vibrant pink hue adorned with subtle coppery highlights, enlivened by a dynamic and creamy effervescence forming a fine cordon of bubbles.
Nose
The bouquet is fragrant and remarkably elegant. It reveals citrus aromas, dominated by blood orange, intertwined with notes of rose petal and intense red fruits such as raspberry. With aeration, a powdery and sensual character emerges, underscored by hints of macaron and toasted hazelnut, all while retaining a beautiful freshness.
Palate
The attack is caressing, enveloping and delicate. The concentrated and satiny texture evokes red fruits and rose, supported by softly textured bubbles. The finish lingers voluptuously on a saline and chalky freshness, reminiscent of a sea breeze, with a fine tannic framework free from any harshness.
Food and wine pairings
This wine beautifully enhances a duck confit, but also pairs wonderfully with roasted poultry, noble fish such as turbot, lobster, or lightly spiced Asian dishes. It also accompanies soft-rind cheeses such as brie or chaource to perfection.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate Cristal Rosé 2015, it is recommended to serve it in tulip-shaped glasses at a temperature between 10 and 12°C. Boasting exceptional ageing potential, it can be cellared for several decades.
Other characteristics
The dosage of this wine is 7 g/l.
The elegance and purity of a great rosé champagne by Louis Roederer
The estate
Founded in 1776 in Reims under the name Dubois Père & Fils, the House took on the name Louis Roederer in 1833. Today led by Frédéric Rouzaud, this family-owned and independent estate spans a 250-hectare vineyard in Champagne. A pioneer in ecological practices, the brand stands out for its major transition to biodynamics and organic farming. Regularly voted the most admired Champagne House in the world, it crafts cuvées of remarkable precision that faithfully reflect their exceptional terroirs.
The vineyard
The grapes come half from the Rivière sector and half from the Côte, in the heart of Champagne. The vines flourish on prestigious chalky terroirs, mainly located in the grands crus of Ay, Avize and Mesnil-sur-Oger. Cultivated according to the principles of biodynamics, these plots benefit from well-draining soils that regulate temperature and humidity, providing the berries with optimal ripeness while preserving a beautiful mineral tension.
The vintage
2015 in Champagne, marked by the region's inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List, offered exceptional weather conditions. After a mild and particularly wet winter, the vines enjoyed a very sunny, hot and dry summer. The end of the summer season was refreshed by welcome rainfall during the second half of August, allowing the vegetative cycle to conclude with perfectly balanced ripening.
Vinification and ageing
The manual harvest took place from 7 to 20 September. To craft this Cristal Rosé 2015, the house employs a unique infusion technique: the chardonnay juices are incorporated into a maceration of pinot noir for a gentle co-fermentation. Vinification takes place without any malolactic fermentation in order to preserve a great freshness, with 15% of the wines aged in wood. The wine then benefits from a long ageing on lees to develop its full complexity.
