Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for L'Oriental 2024 from Domaine de la Rectorie
Tasting
Colour
The colour is a deep purple, a sign of the fine concentration brought by the ripeness of the Grenache Noir.
Nose
The nose is rich and complex, dominated by dark fruit aromas enhanced by spicy, lightly peppery nuances.
Palate
The palate unfolds with breadth and robustness, carried by a generous texture, before closing on a finish marked by notes of black olive and liquorice.
Food and wine pairing
This red Collioure pairs beautifully with duck with cherries or rabbit with olives. It also works very well with Mediterranean cuisine in general, and will enhance game birds such as woodcock, prepared in a robust style.
Serving and cellaring
L'Oriental 2024 is best served at a temperature of around 16°C. With its fine structure, this wine can be kept until around 2034.

The estate
Domaine de la Rectorie, founded in 1984 in Banyuls-sur-Mer by brothers Marc and Thierry Parcé, draws on vines inherited from their great-grandmother Thérèse Parcé. Now run by Thierry Parcé and his son Jean-Emmanuel, this family estate in Roussillon has established itself as a benchmark for the Banyuls and Collioure appellations, renowned for its Banyuls fortified on the grapes and its dry Collioure wines, and for having pioneered the opening of the appellation to white wines.
The vineyard
L'Oriental comes from plots planted on schist soils, typical of the steep terraces of the Collioure appellation that plunge towards the Mediterranean. This free-draining, poor terroir encourages low yields and well-concentrated grapes, while the exposure and maritime influence contribute to a high level of fruit ripeness.
Winemaking and ageing
For L'Oriental 2024, the grapes are hand-harvested and then destemmed. This is followed by a maceration of around 20 days, which allows careful extraction of colour and tannins. The wine is then aged for 11 months in barrel, an ageing process that refines its structure while preserving the expression of the fruit.
Grape varieties
L'Oriental 2024 is made from Grenache Noir (90%) and Carignan (10%).
